41 week appointment

Well, actually 40 weeks 6 days.

I had the biophysical profile. It was fun to see the baby again (sono) even though he is sooo big and squished! We saw his fingers and saw him practicing breathing too. The bad news is my fluid was measuring borderline low and the baby was barely moving. It took 20 minutes to get one movement(kick) on the sono. Of course, after the sono was over he was moving like crazy.

Then I had an exam. I am a week late...only a fingertip dilated, 60% effaced, but the head is really low. I gained 1 lb since last week bringing me up to 55 lbs total so far.

My next appt. is for Tuesday evening for another biophysical profile and exam. My midwife said to have my bags packed and in the car because if the fluid gets any lower I will be induced right after the appt. Also due to lack of movement I have to count kicks numerous times throughout the day and call if less than 10 per 2 hours.

If the fluid and everything is OK on Tuesday, then I will go in on Thursday night 5/29 (41w5d) to be induced. They want the baby here by 5/30. I really really don't want to be induced so I am hoping for some action this weekend.

The midwife also suggested drinking castor oil this weekend. I am sooooo nervous to do this but may consider it to avoid the induction.

You sound like me almost 2 years ago.

I hope you don't have to be induced, especially at night too! I was and it was the longest night of my life!

I had the same thing, with the low fluids, they told me to sit around and do nothing. But honestly, I think because I didn't do alot - that my little was too cozy in there.

Good luck! I wouldn't recommend the castor oil. My sister had a bad experience with that.

I had glass of red wine (my second of the whole pregnancy) and some action with DH the night before my DD arrived. Maybe something similar would help you as well as be more pleasant than castor (blech!) oil.

Oh I am so sorry that your little guy isn't ready to come out. I swear by walking...it did the trick for me. Just keep on moving, and odds are he will keep moving too. Good luck! I hope you don't need the induction.

Hope your baby boy makes his appearance on his own this weekend.

I tried everything (except the castor oil) to get DS out the last week. I am convinced it is the Zatarains Red Beans and Rice for dinner the night before that did the trick. It was a little spicy and I did not feel right shortly after that. Maybe try a little of that. I am sure it tastes much better than castor oil.

Just be warned - beans before labor was not a nice combo for the nurse caring for me (especially since I have IBS). Hey - if it worked, I didn't care!

Went to doctor again today and only 1 centimeter dialiated...had bad contractions last night....what a tease that was....

i did the castor oil thing at 41 weeks. i wouldn't recommend it. i don't know for sure but i kind of think it did more harm then good.

Julz why don't you try acupuncture to start labor. Call Andrea Huggler from LI holistic-shes a vendor on here-I think karacg did that not sure if it worked but hey its natural andf worth a shot-I'd be careful with the castor oil
