Spinoff: What Makes a Tattoo Trashy?
I saw a number of people reply that some places/kinds of tatto are trashy or refer to tattoos on the lower back as "tramp stamps".
I personally don't think any kind of tattoo is are in the least bit. As I stated in the other post, I feel they are an extension of the barers personality so I don't follow this line of thinking.
Can someone explain where they're coming from?

I think it's completely subjective.
I have a "tramp stamp" but I think that name is pretty ridiculous... I got a tatoo there for ME, no one else... how that makes my tatoo trampy or trashy?... I don't know.

okay--i'll cowboy up and say where i think it seems "trashy"....let me preface by saying the reason why i think this....because 3 women that i have personally known who got a tattoo in this stop---WERE trashy. 
big huge tats on a woman's breasts, to me, have a trashy feel to them. i'm sorry if anyone is offended by that--but its just my opinion. my brothers ex has a HUGE heart on her left breast that says "True Love, Forever xxxx" and a guy's name. (Who coincidentally is not even a name of 1 of her FOUR baby daddies). when they were together, she would have a camisole or tank top on--and you could see the tat sticking out and it just looked terrible.
2 other girls i know, have similiar big huge tats on their boobs...and it just doesn't look good to me.

Im not a boob-tat fan. Speaking as someone who went from a 40C to a 36 C to a 38 D (thanks Ed-lie), it would have looked like crap had I had it done. Though I don't know if I would classify boob tats as trashy.

I think its personal. For me big ugly tattoos on chick, ie sleeves are and trashy, BUT if the person who has it likes it, it's their body. I have the tramp stamp and think that nickname is funny as hell, especially since I dont think Im trampy, and you cant see it. Im getting one on my wrist that can be covered if needbe. Its all personal choice, its what makes the world go round.

I can't stand the boob tat where it looks like claws on either side I think EVE (rapper) has it?
I also don't like the full arm tat on women. One of the things I find distracting about the Irish chick on A.I. is when she has an armless shirt. It just doesn't look feminine or attractive to me (sorry if anyone has a full arm tatt, just not my preference). I think they'll eventually look like crap when you turn 80 or so.

I don't use the word "trashy", if I don't like something I use other words to express my distaste. But I'm going to use my sense-making abilities here to conjure up a theory that may answer your question.
A woman has a tattoo on her wrist, no one cares, it's a wrist.
A woman has a tattoo on her ankle, no one cares, it's an ankle.
A woman has a tattoo on her boob or lower back it's drawing attention to those areas and "asking" people to look at her otherwise private parts. This is where I believe the "trashy" comes into play.
I'm NOT saying this is what every woman thinks when they get a tat in either of those locations, I'm just guessing as to how "her audience" may perceive it.
I hope that made sense.

I thought that a tramp stamp was in the hip/pelvis area???? I thought it was b/c it draws the eye near the fun zone.
I said in the other thread that I don't like tattoos that are of a style that is way too common and hold no specific meaning to the person. That's trashy. Some tattoos that have bled and have not been corrected look a little trashy, too. Skilled artwork is NOT trashy.

well in the example i gave--it definitely made it "trashy" to me cause well---of my blind hatred for the girls.
BUT when i see a boob tat on a girl peeking out---i hate to admit it--but i do kind of cringe and think "Eww" -- i do that when i see full arm/sleeve tats on girls too -- i know its judgy wudgy of me...but hey--no one is perfect.

I'm not sure I agree with it, but I definitely get what you're saying.
To your point, however, these locations would normally be "hidden" with clothing.

definitely clothing can play a part. its like that scene in wedding crashers--when the girl is leaning forward and you see her lower back tattoo---and Vince Vaugh says "tattoo on the lower back--might as well be a bullseye!"

I'm not sure it's being answered necessarily, since I'm not sure anyone's really said what makes a tattoo trashy but nonetheless, people are sharing their opinions in a civil manner.

yes, exactly! everybody has likes and dislikes. personally, i would not put a tattoo on my boobs, but i do have two on each ankle. i personally wouldn't put a guys name on my body either...but that doesn't make someone trashy, just there likes and dislikes. i mean i think guys that have tattoos of naked women on there bodies is a little wierd lol but if they like it..go for it. (not that we are talking about guys, but still)
i would love to see me get a naked guy on my arm and see how many people stared at me lol

IMO, it's about the location.
I'm not crazy about upper arm tattoos on a woman. Not a sleeve, just a single tattoo on the upper arm. It doesn't look very feminine to me, and you can't hide it when wearing a sleeveless top or dress, among other reasons.

I dont really find any specific type of tattoo or it's location is what makes it trashy, I think it's the way it's presented which makes it seem trashy.
I have a tattoo on my lower back and on my hip. No one would ever know about the one on my hip unless they saw me without clothes. The one on my back maybe if I am wearing something low riding and bend over. But being 5 months pregnant nothing low ride for me for a while.
If I saw some girl walking down the street that had a tattoo around her belly button and on her lower back, wearing daisy dukes or hot shorts, a belly shirt that came just below her boobs then I would eeeww trashy girl, trashy tattoo's, etc...
I know a few gals that have tattoo's on their boobs and you would never know. I personally am not a fan of boob tattoos but that's just me. I dont think it's trashy it's just not a spot I would choose for one.
I just think it's the way the woman presents herself and carries herself. If she carries herself trashy then no matter what she does or says she is just going to be labled trash. But if she carries herself well and respectable then she wont be labeled
