2 year old refusing naps help!!
So my 25 month old DS suddenly started fighting naps for the past 2 weeks (usually naps 1-2 hours) and today downright refused to go down. I left him in the crib for 40 minutes during which he went from sad pleas to save him from the crib, to singing the alphabet to hysterics until I took him out. As expected he started melt down mode at 5:30 and his normal bedtime is 8:30. I can't go through the day with no nap break and 3 hours of melt down. Neither can he for that matter. He was so upset he didn't eat dinner.
Thoughts, help? what do I do?? We have also gotten rid of the binky so that may be part of it though it was already cut at the top

Re: 2 year old refusing naps help!!
DD used to just go right into her crib for both naps and at nighttime and just fall asleep there. Lately, she needs to lay down on the couch for about 10-15 minutes til she gets super drowsy then we transfer her to the crib.

How about laying down on floor while he is in crib......then start slowly breaking free. I had to do that many times.

How many hours does he get at night? On average he only needs 11-12 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period at that age. All kids drop naps at different ages. Maybe try earlier bedtime at like 7?

Re: 2 year old refusing naps help!!
My dd has gone through phases where she doesn't want to nap. I just try to put her down every day and give her a half hour to just relax or hopefully fall asleep. If it doesn't work, I just put her to bed earlier at night. I wish I had better advice. Lately she has been napping with no issues, so I hope it is just a phase for you too.

Re: 2 year old refusing naps help!!
Thanks for your suggestions. Today was better. We started the "nap time routine" like an hour early and went back to quiet time/reading with milk (even though he didn't want it) then putting in for a nap. Today it worked....tomorrow I guesss we'll see. I'm hoping its a phase because I would hate to have to put him into bed at 630 or 7 as DH comes home at 6 and we enjoy that family time to eat together and play.

Same here. It happens every now and then and I try to just ignore it until it eventually goes away and she goes back to her normal routine. Don't give up!
