2 kids- childcare options
I am trying to look at all options for childcare for our upcoming needs. probably in the summer of 2018? we will have an infant and 3 1/2 year old
Help me brainstorm :)
Options:
1) daycare x2 full time - current costs high but we would also look into other programs for older toddlers (too young for preK @ school until 2019)
2) daycare x2 part time, supplementing family
3) DW stay @ home mom. would have to supplement $ working nights/ weekends.
4) nanny- What does this cost? i have no clue!
any other ideas or can you help me figure out costs on some of the unknowns :)

2 kids- childcare options
Rather than a nanny, hire a sitter at home. I pay my sitter $400 for a full week, off the books. She has no responsibilities other than my son. My son is an extreme handful. She does clean up a little bit if she has time, but I do not expect her to do that. She will also attend Dr appts with us which is usually within her normal schedule time but I give her some extra money because usually it means she picks him up from school and meets us there.

Facebook. I posted in the local moms group. She is actually a young grandma (51) and she is exactly what my family needed. It took me a while to find the perfect fit, but once I did it was worth it.

Do you guys have a traditional 9-5. I work 3 short days and 2 long days. My short days I work in the evenings like 3-8 and my husband gets home at 5:45 so they are with a sitter very short time those days. The long days, my mom is child care which is usually 2 days a week, sometimes 3

Re: 2 kids- childcare options
I think the nanny cost depends on where you live.....i definitely found it to be less cost effective than daycare for ONE child, but may be better with two.......Usually the discount for part time is so minimal its not even worth it. I personally liked having the cameras in my home so i could watch and someone coming to my home the first year so he could build up him immunity and get some personal attention. A licensed family daycare (someones home) is usually the cheapest option. GL!

Re: 2 kids- childcare options
Is there a local church that offers a full day pre-k program for 3 year olds? This is what I plan to look into for my DD when she turns 3 next year. Someone told me they pay around $700/mo for full day pre-k and that includes before/after care. Hell of a lot cheaper than what I pay for daycare.

For two kids I feel like a Nanny or sitter is usually more cost effective than day care. I feel like the average rate is somewhere between 400 to 500 a week. As mentioned above, nursery school tends to be much cheaper than day care, we pay $700 m-f 9am to 3pm, but that might not even make sense because you'll need care for your infant and I feel like the price between a nanny for one child or two is usually pretty insignificant. Also nursery school tends to follow the school districts schedule.

Re: 2 kids- childcare options
For two kids I found a licensed home daycare on my block that was a little cheaper than a center. But for us it was a huge help that I didn't have to pay for days the kids didn't attend.

Re: 2 kids- childcare options
Not sure of the difference between a nanny and a sitter at home, but we have a nanny w/ 2 kids. It's cheaper than day care for 2 kids and she comes to my house for 11 hours a day. We pay her a set rate each week regardless of days off.
