We actually were interested in a house that after the fact we found out someone was stabbed in the garage - it was a huge turnoff for us. So for me the answer is no

yes, but not at a normal/high price range. i'd get them lower and competely redo the basement

eta: my stepdad died (he didn't commit suicide or anything like that) in my mom's house and while it's not the same thing, i would never consider not buying a house i loved in a nice neighborhood bc it has a past... all houses do and i'm sure someone on here owns a house that someone has died in and doesn't even know it!

but DH wouldnt. he actually researched our house on the internet to see if anyone was killed in it.

I don't know if we would. When we bought our house DH asked if anyone had died in the home. Then again he watches all those paranormal shows

i dont know....if i loved the house, really loved it and if i didnt get a "feeling" while i was there than i probably would buy it...

there is a history to everything...i bet there are people under a lot of our houses and we just don't know about it...

i don't know it would kind of creep me out but if I loved the house enough and the price was right then I would go for it

It's tricky because the lady who lived in my parent's apartment committed suicide before we moved in. I lived there for over 10 years before I got married, and there were some weird moments, but nothing outrageously crazy.

But a house is different because it's hard to come by a house that you absolutely love and can see yourself building a future there. I would consider it and then if I decided to buy it, I would have my pastor bless the house (if you're religious) and put some sea salt in it before moving in (feng shui type of thing).

yes, years ago my neighbor committed suicide in his garage.

While it was creepy at first and we were like WHO would buy that....no one even thinks of it like that anymore, especially the new neighbors.

Nope. We looked at a house a few blocks from the one we actually bought. When i pulled in the driveway i knew something wasup. Went inside and hit the shrine. The son dies in an accident uoung like 18. His room was just how he left it. Underware still on the floor. Go into the parents room another shrine. The wife died of cancer a few months earlier. Her nightgown was still on the bed. Heebee geebees. The house of sadness whike it was a great house and on a great block all the sadness freaked me out.

oh idk... that would upset me.

i guess if i really loved it?? maybe - but it would have to be a great deal, i would have to love it, and i would have to renovate the basement TOP TO BOTTOM. yeah that stuff is upsetting!

the people we bought the house from - her husband passed, although in a hospital. however, even though he did not pass in the home - we still feel his presence and we were even told by a medium that we would. he *loved* this home more than anything - and his wife told us so as well. we have become close with her since buying it. even though we never met him, i feel so thankful to have this home. it's interesting - i thought it would bother me, the presence thing, but it really doesn't. it's nice - like he is happy we are here and love it as much as he did.

just goes to show you though, they don't have to die IN the home for their presence to still be there afterwards.

I wouldn't. I'm super-superstitious and personally I would feel it had bad luck.

We are going to look at it sometime this week or next. I am kinda freaked out because I am extremely sensitive to that kind of stuff. We'll see.

Why not You could buy any house and not know what has gone on in it. People die in there homes all the time - not sure why it would make a difference if they committed suicide.

My old house (didnt find out until after we bought) the son shot and killed the father but it didnt affect the house for us - i guess unless you believe in ghosts and spirits and that sort of thing

I would- I try to get them to lower it also- and then redo the basement

and maybe sprinkle Holy water lol
