another birthday gift question
aside from the "usual" gifts of home depot gift cards and bottles of booze, what are good gifts for a 50 year old man?
he doesn't drink he doesn't smoke he loves football he does work A LOT on the house he loves camping he's a picky eater and a bit of a foodie he loved blackjack
i was thinking of a gift card to a nice barber shop where he can get a straight razor shave and all that masculine fancy stuff.
any other ideas?

Re: another birthday gift question
What type of camping? There's a large range, and the equipment you need/want varies tremendously.
Driving up to a site and basically living out of the trunk of your car, but in a tent? Backpacking, where everything you need is on your back? Survivalist, where you don't even have a backpack of gear, just a knife and whatever you can fit in your pockets? Pulling a trailer or driving a motorhome and parking it in a facility, with running water, electricity, heat, AC, etc?
I have a lot of the same interests, and almost the same age, but I'm very picky when it comes to gear. I may want a flashlight, but it has to be a very particular flashlight, and if you get the wrong one, I probably won't use it. I research all of the tools I have as well. DW knows not to buy me any tools for my woodshop.

LOL and this is exactly why DH and I stopped exchanging gifts! I could never buy a tool for him anymore than he could ever buy a dress or a pair of heels for me. So we just go out and buy what we need, when we need it- happy birthday/Christmas/anniversary to us!

Re: another birthday gift question
My guess is he's probably the type that buys everything for himself relating to camping and tools. My suggestion, based on his hobbies and your list, would be this: Secret Stash Knife
Have it personalized and pair it with maybe a GC to get a shave at a nice barber shop, or a GC to a great restaurant.

SO is the same. i've given up buying him anything substantial. i buy him small items that i know he needs, just so he opens something from me on his birthday and christmas.
this person likes to camp with us...
in the desert, in a tent, but brings every comfort from home (except the ac)... microwave, coffeemaker, etc. he gets mad when i cook over the campfire lol

I don’t buy DH anything and if I were it would be something he pointed at and said “I want this.” I would definitely never get him any generic “man” type gifts. And forget personalized, he’s been in so many weddings (18 of them) he has like 12 engraved watches, 6 flasks, Pilsner glasses. We have half a closet full of sh!t with his initials on it.
DD has the same initials and I always joke that when she’s older we can gift her men’s watches and flasks.
