jewelry appraisal
Do you need an appointment for this? I have never done this before. My DH bought me diamond earrings for my bday last year in Aruba and they irritate my ears badly, almost too tight. I noticed this while we were still on trip, but I didn't want to disappoint DH or leave the beach and get in a taxi and spend my day in a jewelry store. The place gave us an appraisal in writing, which was double what we paid but who knows. I am not sure I can wear them. I emailed the place as I remember they had a NYC location and thought I would get them adjusted but never heard back. I am thinking of seeing what I can get for them. Will I get much less than I paid for them? Can anyone recommend a jeweler? I am in Suffolk.

You will definitely get a lot less for them. Why dont you just go to your jeweler and have an appraisal done. If they are in fact real, see about resetting them into a metal that wont irritate your ears.

You won't get even what you paid for them. What about resetting them ? Are the posts too short ?

Its like a teardrop diamond with little diamonds going down. It has a clip that pushes under and behind ear to secure. It is way too tight. I guess maybe the thing to do is go to the jeweler we have used here and see what they will give me or what they can do. It was so nice of DH to do this, but inside I was upset he made such a purchase away from home. I hope I don't sound like a brat.

Nah,no sense in having something that is uncomfortable. I buy a lot of jewelry while on vacation, but bring it back home to my jeweler to adjust. Hopefully yours can change the backing so that they are comfortable to wear.
