Please verify for me....
... the correct phrase is:
"And that's a WRAP!"
When referring to something that is finished.
Right?
Because i keep seeing something on Facebook that is making me question my own sanity and knowledge of the English language.
Please confirm

Re: Please verify for me....
OK I thought so! Like you finished, you WRAPPED it up!
Because i have seen on more than one occasion and from more than one person:
That's a RAP!
Like we are making a rap song and we finished it.

I saw it so many times I started thinking- hey maybe I am wrong! I try to pride myself on proper grammar and grasp of English but hey, you never know!

You are correct, for sure. Grammar and anything remotely close to correct language usage is definitely a lost art on FB. Drives me crazy!

In that case, I think you're giving people way too much credit. I don't think they have a different meaning in mind, I think the vast majority of people on FB just can't spell!

Re: Please verify for me....
I also saw, from the one of the same people who used "Rap" for "Wrap"....
Grant it. Instead of Granted
"Grant it, my husband does work very hard....."

These are the same people who do not know how to use there/their, to/too, your/you're and write "of" instead of "have" - as in I should HAVE, not I should of... All of these also drive me crazy!

And the one's who say- Pitcher when speaking instead of picture. And Ax instead of ask.
Ugh drives me nuts. Sounds so uneducated, I'm sorry!
I also love- down pact, instead of down pat!
LOL

Re: Please verify for me....
Just saw another one that I see often.
Congrads instead of Congrats.
If you are abbreviating Congratulations, shouldn't it be Congrats?
Unless you are wishing them well on their GRADuation, I guess...
Congrads to the Grad!!

I've seen
"of cause"
instead of
"of course"
or then instead of than. as in less than, not less then.

Re: Please verify for me....
Ok so apparently even news reporters use incorrect words.
I was jsut watching a news clip about a guy who punched some other guy at a football game and ended up getting arrested. The whole thing was caught on cell video.
The reporter is outside the stadium reporting live and saying at first the team didn't release any statements but they have since CONDONED the suspect's behavior, calling it unacceptable.
Um, isn't that the opposite of condone?
And this from a news reporter Damn.
I am assuming she mean to say Condemned.
