Re: How do you verify taxes?

Call the listing agent- they should tell you when they verified it last.
I beleive it goes throught the town?
Not sure, but she should tell you when they were verified.

Re: How do you verify taxes?

Call the Town Assessor - it is public information and they will be able to give you the most accurate $$.

i hate to say it but 90% of realtors dont verify the taxes, they just take the homeowners word for it (that's why alot of listings say "agent not responsible for information listed. buyer must verify all info). i would call the county assessors office. they'll give you the true taxes, the school taxes, and then the star discount so you'll know all of the precise information.

Re: How do you verify taxes?

I would call the town. Look the section, lot and block up on mynassauproperty.com and then call the town.

That is the only true way of findaing out the taxes. A lot of agents list the taxes with star on their listings too.

Probably because the real taxes would scare off a lot of people, where as the taxes with star are more inviting.

I wouldnt trust the real estate agent. When we were looking, I called the town for many houses that we were looking at

call the town. the taxes listed by the sellers agent were listed as $900 less than actual.

Re: How do you verify taxes?

So are you saying that even though I specifivcally asked the agent when the taxes were last verified, that she may have lied?!?!?!
Eek.
Well, my dad's going down to the village hall today, so I'll have him double check.
Thanks!

Re: How do you verify taxes?

You always want to double check or triple check on any information the real estate agent or the sellers tell you. This is one of the biggest things you will ever do in your life and you cannot trust anyone
