Kids and long plane rides

At what age would you feel ok about bringing kids on 10-12 hour flight and it being mostly ok for them. All I know is definitely my 3 year old is not readynow but since we need a year or two to plan a big trip trying to figure out if 5 is ok or if should wait longer ??

I think 5 is good. My kids are 5 and 7 and I would now consider longer flights since they've done lots of flights and I know they are good on planes.

My ds would have been ready from birth. He is a great flyer.

my oldest DS is 6, and we took him with us to Korea (14 hour flight) to adopt our younger son. Our younger son is 3...and obviously we HAD to take him on the flight to get him home LOL They both actually did really well! my older son is all about the iPad, so we just let him have unlimited iPad time on the flight-- he was THRILLED!! LOL and he did sleep a little bit, too plus they gave us 2 meals on that long flight, so that broke things up, too. on the way back, we took an evening flight and both boys slept pretty much the whole way because it was "night time".... SOOO i would say it depends on the kid, but i would say 5/6 years old might be ok. that age can usually sit through movies or independently play "video" games, etc

I have a 5 and 7 year old and we fly at least once or twice a year. But the longest we fly is about 3 hours... They are really good flyers but I still couldn't imagine them sitting for 10-12 hours straight.
I had to fly (by myself) for 6 hours and I couldn't get off the plane fast enough. I couldn't imagine adding another 4 or 5 hours to that WITH kids.
If I had to do it - I would definitely do an over night flight so at least the kids would sleep

I noticed kids are WAYYYYYY better airplane passengers than adults. I have NEVER had an issue with a baby or child on a flight. Theyre soo quiet. EVen if they scream, you cant hear them btwn the cabin noise and headphones. Its the adults that are aholes lol

I think it depends on the child. My son is almost 6 and he is not that great with a 15 minute drive to karate. No way I would take him on that kind of a plane ride.

Really depends on the child. My son is 4 and I think he would be fine. Well I will find out in a few months because in August I will be flying 12 months with a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old!

it matters on your child - mine have been to Hawaii since they were little - first flight took 2 7 month olds and a 2.5 year old - all did great
last time we went to Hawaii they were 4 and 6 - most log flights have power and I usally bring one new movie for them - they are great travelers but my boys are not super energy boys

I took my 20 month DS to China (14 hr flight) close to 2 yrs ago and he did fine. We just went to Japan (20 hrs flying) 3 months ago at 3 yrs old and again fine. He is a great flier but we bring enough snacks and entertainment to keep him busy.
