If you bring a sippy for water - bring it empty and buy the water on the other side of security because they might make you dump it.
Both times we flew - (we went delta LGA and jet Blue JFK) I brought milk boxes (those individual ones) and juice boxes. I also brought sippy cup for their ears. As far as snacks - I brought cheerios and bananas. I never had an issue.
I have heard of people having to dump things - but it seems like many of those cases they are using sippys and things that are already opened. It says you can bring juice in reasonable amounts. Honestly it probably depends on who you get but none of our friends have had issues as well - but we don't bring a ridiculous amount. You can easily buy bottled water once through security and probably larger bottles of juice depending on the time and airport you fly out of.
I think they only limit foods that are things like yogurts and other soft items - but I am pretty sure I did have shelf stable yogurt with us and they didn't say anything but I honestly can remember. I would stick to things like cheerios, and other dry snacks and fruit to be more on the safe side.
