WWYD regarding response

I recently posted about a friend on Facebook that I wash;t sure if I should delete or not. I decided to keep the friend and just put this person in a group.

This person has had a history of just being rude to me for years.. I have dealt with it and not said anything until recently due to it being friends of my DH. This person claimed to invite me to something, invited me to their home that same day of the event and told people I never replied. But NEVER said anything to me that they sent me an Email. I think this person was lying. I called this person out on it and said I never got the Email. and asked why they didn't mention it when they saw me? This is an ongoing issue with this person. It doesn't seem that this person cares about my feelings or goes out of their way to be a friend to me at all. Takes out their phone or tablet when in front of me and barely interacts.

After I called this person out about why they never told me they sent an Email when they saw me the day of the event? They back pedaled and said they didn't remember why etc. Now they are inviting me to hang out through FB, but I have not read the message.

I don't know what to do, it's not in my personality to ignore someone even if they are not my favorite person. I just don't want to continue to have interactions with this person but feel I am in a tough spot b/c of my DH. He sees them on a weekly basis.

WWYD? Would you ignore the message or respond that you're busy?

TIA!!

Is this person a male or female? Why does your DH sees someone regularly that treats you poorly (unless it's a co-worker)? My suggestion is to reply and say you're busy that day. Don't ignore the message b/c clearly they have no issue calling you out to other people.

Thanks for your reply!

My DH is friends's with her husband- it's a female.

ETA: they get together once a week in the evening-just him and his friend.

If it were me and this woman had treated me poorly in the past then I wouldn't want to go out with her, I would decline. Your DH can have a friendship with her DH if he wants, just because he is friends with the husband does not mean you have to be friends with the wife.

This sounds so 7th grade.
I'd cut ties.
Who has time for games like that.

I agree with this. I would just reply back that you can attend and just move on. She will probably eventually stop asking you to hangout

No reason why you need to maintain a one sided friendship with this woman just because the husbands are friends. Just be cordial, don't do anything she can talk sshit about.

Me personally, I don't have time for people like that. My DH has a lot of guy friends where I know the wives, we see each other at social functions, but we don't maintain separate friendships.

This person doesn't seem worth all of this stress and attention.

Reply that you are busy that day. Leave it at that. Just because your DH is friends with her DH doesn't meant that the two of you need to be friends.

I would not ignore the message because they you are just playing into what she already said she has said about you, that you don't respond. I would respond back that I am busy, but thanks. End of story.

To me, "maybe another weekend" is the equivalent of "yeah, we should get together" - just something people say but never really do. Sounds like neither one of you really wants to spend time together so I wouldn't stress about it. If she does reach out again, just be busy that day

Re: WWYD regarding response

That's annoying. It sounds like she's going to keep trying to invite you to things. I wouldn't ignore her but I would just respond each time and say that you have plans. Eventually she should stop asking.

But, yes, I definitely plan to be busy!!

Thanks again!
