Is there any way they can come Wednesday afternoon/evening or make arrangements to stay with someone else Tuesday night and Wednesday day?

With them coming early now you are going to have to entertain them Tuesday night, make sure that the house is clean for their arrival, plan dinner Tues and breakfast for Wed morning, tip toe around if they sleep in Wed morn etc.

I totally understand you wanting the day to yourself on Wednesday. You are going to have a busy couple of days and you deserve some me time. Your screen name says it all.

Was the Tues arrival planned the whole time and you misunderstood or did they change last minute and your DH did not relay the info to you?

They decided to come fairly last minute. They just told us they were coming tuesday didn't ask

I feel like this poor OP probably "sucks it up" every day of her life - running around, stressed. Just looking forward to a break. And this isn't even a legit break. She just mainly wants to cook in her kitchen and maybe throw her hair up into a pony tail.

We as women "suck it up" all the time. I think we all need a break once in awhile from putting ourselves last, and put ourselves first whenever we can.

Just my two cents. I'm strict with things like this but I'm also really happy and never regret "me time."

I agree - it's sad how sh*tty we treat ourselves. I'm guilty of it too!

Also, I sibling or not, I don't understand how a houseguest TELLS you when they will be coming, rather than ASKING you what works -

Ughh I feel your pain I really do. I would say that you have stuff planned for wednesday and it would be so much easier if they arrived around 4 pm on wednesday. Sometimes people are rude, clueless or dont give a shit. You are having them in your house for days- you are not being selfish...do it now before its too late to tell them. You will be a much better host if you take care of yourself before the big turkey day and get some relaxation in. They should understand.

You deserve the day off (which in all honesty, sounds like it is a day to do a little something for you and then prep for the holiday, which is not entirely for you).

If your relatives just announce they are coming without asking or checking with you about what you had planned, I wouldn't feel bad in the slightest telling them you have prior plans and they need to plan around it. They can either make their own plans on Wednesday or arrive later.

Don't feel bad AT ALL.

I'd take great care of myself if given the opportunity.

And if family came over last minute, they'd need to know that I already had some plans in place for a portion of their visit.

I'd be understanding that they need a place to stay & open up my home. I'd expect the same understanding in return for things I've had planned. Especially under these circumstances.

Right? I thought i was being a bI#%h when I was thinking 5 nights is long time!
Even dh said it tonight (it's his sister)

MIL might annoy the crap out of me but her motto is house guests are like fish...they stink after 3 days. So she never stays longer than 3 days
