Yes my ds had reflux and laryngomalacia. He would make noise and have apnea episodes when on his back. We started tummy sleeping when he was 2 months. We kept him in our room in a pack n play till he was about 6 months old because it made me feel more comfortable

Have you tried the rock n play? My DS was being evaluated for potential refulx and I was trying to manage without getting him on a prescription. He was sleeping in a bassinet on his belly for naps during the day great, but I was too afraid to let him do it at night when I wasn't watching. I tried the rock n play and it worked like a charm. The incline was just what he needed, he did even better in there than he did on his belly.

My youngest napped on her belly at about 7 weeks old. She hated being on her back and would spring to her side if you tried to put her down. Only naps thou, she didn't sleep like that at night until she could do it herself.

She seems to grunt a lot in the rock and play. Some days it's fine and others she's so uncomfortable.

We did with my 2nd ds - he liked to sleep that way. His room was very ventilated so I wasn't to worried. We all survived on our tummys so if he is happier I would go with it.

Our ped told us to let her be a belly sleeper at 10 weeks. She has slept thru the night ever since.

Re: anyone have their LO sleep on their tummy early on?
DS is exactly 3 mos today and currently sleeping on his belly as I type. He's been napping on his belly for a while. My pediatrician told me that he can't tell me to have him sleep on his belly because it's a SIDS risk until 9 mos but he told me all his grandchildren slept on their bellies. So that was his wink, wink it's ok.
Use common sense and do what you need to do for your baby.

Re: anyone have their LO sleep on their tummy early on?
Yes. My first child would spit up his bottle while on his back & choke on it so DH & I took turns "sleeping" while sitting up with the baby propped up on our chests. That made us totally unfunctional after about a week so we just let him sleep on his belly from then on.
DS #2, we just put on his belly from the first night home because he would also gag on his spit up.

Have you tried meds? Both my kids did better on meds and sleeping on an incline (swing or RnP). Once they were old enough to roll themselves onto their belly, they slept that way. But I never put them that way on my own. Not worth the risk IMO.

Re: anyone have their LO sleep on their tummy early on?
Yes, DS had severe colic and reflux, belly sleeping was the only way we all got any sleep.
I was paranoid as well and I started doing it for his naps at first. For night time we actually co-slept with him, so I felt more comfortable putting him on his belly next to me. We did something similar to this

Re: anyone have their LO sleep on their tummy early on?
My DD never slept well on her back when she was an infant. I'm not sure why, as she never did have reflux issues. I used to let her nap on her belly during the day, when I'd be there to check on her (which I did non-stop). During the night though, I usually had her propped on her side.

Yes, dd hated sleeping on her back most nights she slept on me on her belly. My ped wouldn't tell me to do it because of liability issues but she would say I knew my kid. Dd still is a tummy sleeper at 2.

Re: anyone have their LO sleep on their tummy early on?
Yes - both of my boys slept on their bellies well before the were "supposed" to according to "them" .......my Ped agreed it was fine. I'd put them on their back, and they would flip themselves over .........almost immediately.
What was Igoing to do? Stand over their crib all night flipping them back over onto their back? KWIM?

Re: anyone have their LO sleep on their tummy early on?
if you are nervous, consider the babysense monitor. I used it for DS1 and we are using it for DS 2 now as well. Definitely helps us all sleep better at night
