When Did DC Start Going to Sleep Early?

DS tends to fall asleep aroun 10 or 10:30 each night, may wake up around 3 or 4 in the morning for a feeding, then usually sleeps until 8 or 9 the next morning. He has pretty much stopped napping in the morning, and may nap in the afternoon for couple hours. He may take some 15 minute naps here and there during the day. It seems as if he needs more sleep, and I would like to get him in the habit of either taking another nap, or going to bed earlier, but I'm not sure he's old enough for this yet.

He is 10 weeks old, and I've noticed many older children seem to go to bed early. When did your DC start doing this? Also, how do you encourage DC to sleep when they just will not do it?

I admit, I'm selfish. He tends to scream in the evenings, and I'd like a little time with DH again. Chat Icon

I would say around 5 or 6 months old he started to go down at 7-7:30. He mainly did it on his own, but I would try to keep all the lights & noise down around that time. We started a night routine pretty early of bath, lotion ( I used the johnson's bed time soap & lotion) and pjs. HTH

Thanks for the info! As I said, I am a bit selfish. DS tends to cry a lot in the evenings, so we spend all our time trying to soothe him. When this is over, it's time for us to go to sleep too. DH gets home about 7:00 at the earliest, so we really don't get to talk much at all during the week.

Ah well, it sounds as if the crying and the sleep will both get better around the same time.
