Disney Character Dining Help

DD, who will be 5 on our trip to Disney is totally into princesses. DS will be just about 3 and likes the princesses just fine. Both kids would be thrilled dining with any character, really.

Debating between a Princess meal and a meal with Mickey/Minnie/etc. and want to choose based on which characters are harder to "meet" at the parks, if that makes any sense.

Is it harder to find the princesses in the parks, so eating at a princess meal is a better plan? Or should we go with Mickey and the gang because they're harder to find?

(Obviously, cost and menu will come into play but thought this was a good way to weed through the different options)

I would do both! Mickey was booked, but we did other characters.
We did the princess dinner at akershaus. Before being seated, we had a professional photo with Belle. We were seated in an alcove and other princesses came by each table to say hello and pose for pics with our camera. There was also some kind of princess parade when the princesses and kids walked around the restaurant.
We did a Disney Junior breakfast (sofia, handy mamny, and doc, maybe someone else?) At hollywood studios. It was a big open room, so the characters were more visible while doing all the table visits. Plus, they did a bunch of dances where the kids could get up and join in. It was really fun. Probably because these shows all have good songs.
We did lunch at crystal palace with pooh characters. It was similar to Disney junior meal, but more low key - don't remember dancing.

Didn't find either difficult to meet, maybe because we went during a less crowded week. In magic kingdom, we met Ariel in her grotto, Belle at tales with Belle, and 4 other princesses in one place (had to stand in line twice because there are 2 on each side). We didn't look for the "stuffed" characters in magic kingdom because we met a bunch in hollywood studios and DD was afraid of them.

With the Disney experience app, you might be able to see wait times and get an idea.

Re: Disney Character Dining Help

I'm more excited for the character meals than DS Chat Icon .

I scheduled Chef Mickey on one of our non-park days. We will go for brunch.

I also scheduled a late lunch at Crystal Palace for one of our early days in the park.

Our last day in Disney, I was able to get an early dinner reservation at Be Our Guest. I don't think Belle is there for that though....

I have a boy so he is obviously not into the princesses or the characters as much but I think he will be excited when we get there.

Went to disney last week we did akershus at Epcot there was belle, Snow White, sleeping beauty, Cinderella and Ariel, we did lunch at crystal palace and that was piglet, tigger, pooh and eyeore, we did breakfast at Hollywood and vine and that was jake, doc, handy manny and Sofia, we did chef mickey and that had goofy, Pluto, mickey, Minnie and Donald. I have 2 girls ages 3 and 5 and they enjoyed all of them. They really liked sitting at the table and waiting for who was going to come see them next. Doing this also made it so that we didn't wait on lines to see characters at the parks, they got their autographs and pics at the meals except for Anna and Elsa which I got a fast pass for that. The character meals are definitely pricier the buffets were about $130 for the 4 of us, akershus I think was around $170 for dinner.

Re: Disney Character Dining Help

I'm of no help...we only booked one character meal & that's for breakfast at HS with the Disney Jr. characters because to my 5 yr old DS he thinks we're going to "Disney...Jr" not Disney World. Chat Icon

we're going in 3 weeks... DS is almost 5. we got the dining plan for free... so i went a little crazy with character meals HAHA we're doing Garden Grill in EPCOT (farmer mickey, goofy, chip and dale). Tusker house breakfast in Animal Kingdom (donald mickey and a few others...) Chrystal palace (pooh, eeryore piglet). we also love chef mickeys last time... we had a reservation there for this trip, but i cancelled it bc it was on our check-in day and i just wanted to keep that day a little more low-key.
For us, we see the characters at the meals and don't really worry about meeting them in the parks.... DS is a little daredevil and likes the rides and stuff-- he would rather wait in line for rides than meeting characters. SOOO since we have to eat anyway LOL we do the character meals so he can meet the characters easily and then move onto more rides HAHA
