how did you know if your baby had acid reflux

ds is only 11 days old, but he has had a couple instances where he has projectile vomited all over the both of us.
and sometimes when i feed him i can hear his stomach making gurgling noises.
and sometimes he kicks his feet so hard from what I'm thinking is gas pain.

he has surpassed his birth weight, is on formula, and pees and poops regularly.

any tips or insight?

I think that's just normal baby spit up. My DS was a major spitter until about 7-8 months. But no arching his back. Didn't really cry while he ate. Slept well most of the time. Gas is normal for that age. Their digestive systems are so immature at that point, especially with formula I found. Projectile is if its really forceful. My DS used to spit A LOT, he was like a fountain! But it wasn't really projectile. If he is gaining weight, etc then he is probably okay, no back arching while eating or excessive fussiness.

As pp said, it might just be normal spit up. DS was like a fountain for 6-7 months - it was gross, but I eventually got used to it. He rarely seemed in pain from his reflux so he never went on any meds.

reflux symptoms include:
a large amount of spit up
crying after a feeding
waking in the middle of the night crying, inconsolable at times
wiggling like they are in pain from gas
arching of the back during or after a feeding or when spitting up
constantly wanting to eat like not waiting 2-3 hours before needing to feed again (milk cuts the acid so they want to drink all the time but they it ends up making them spit up causing a vicious cycle)

My dd started to show symptoms around 3 weeks old. She ended up, after a LONG LONG process of meds and formula changes, having a mild case of reflux but could not tolerate dairy due to a milk protein intolerance.

BUT I would suggest:
gas drops
burp half way through a bottle and again at the end
and eventually you may want to try changing formula to a gentle or sensitive one

It could also just be that DC digestive system is also VERY immature and trying to get used to formula and eating. Remember all of this, the entire world, eating, sleeping and so on is completely new. And its new to all the baby's organs so its kind of learning what to do.
