How do you know your baby has REFLUX?
How do you know?
AJ is so miserable but I don't know why. He cried all the time like he is in pain. Usually for an hour after he eats. He grunts. Occasionally he projectile spits up. (Every other day) He gets the hiccups a lot.
I am taking him to the ped on Wednesday but how will his Ped know???

I knew bc ds had projectile vomit and would spit up when we put him in his crib. He also did a lot of gagging.

Arching, coughing, spitting up, lots of crying during and after bottles - these were our symptoms

It is a diagnosed by trying the meds based on symptoms and seeing what happens. The real tests are pretty invasive so this is usually the route Dr's take.

Maybe you should try switching formula? That worked for both boys...Tyler is now on Gentlease...the others were too much for him. It took 3 or 4 tries with Bradley before we realized that it was the formula that was making him so uncomfortable.

DD's reflux was pretty mild, But her most frequent symptoms were: she spit-up frequently and it'd come out her nose sometimes(ped said that happens w/reflux), she'd spit-up 2 hrs after eating and sometimes you could hear the fluid coming up in her throat and going back down.

Re: How do you know your baby has REFLUX?
My son had silent refulx, which is reflux while he is eating. He would cry the whole time he was eating, spit out then bottle, then want mroe, then do it again. Projectile spit up is a sign of reflux. DS was put on zantac and we started putting cereal in his formula and he got better.
