Ear infection and flying in two weeks...
DS has an ear infection and we are flying to Florida in exactly 2 weeks. He's being treated with Augmentin and I'm hopeful it will be long gone by then but I'm hoping the flight can't trigger a recurrence. He's mostly off the bottle so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get him to take a bottle during takeoff and landing. Any other tips and tricksor ear discomfort in flight??

Re: Year infection and flying in two weeks...
This happened to us in November with my 4.5 year old. He isn't on a bottle but I had him suck on lollipop during both take off & landing.
No reoccurrence of infection.

I would go back to the dr before leaving to make sure it's gone. Bring a water cup or snacks for him so he swallows during take off and landing. The flight can't trigger a reoccurrence necessarily, unless the infection is still there.

Definitely go to dr before flying. This happened to us but it was closer to us flying and we had to cancel the flights and drive to Florida. Hope you munchkin feels better

Re: Ear infection and flying in two weeks...
We flew while my daughter was on antibiotics for an ear infection and she was fine. I also gave her some children's claritin prior to the flight to help drain any fluid to help avoid any pain from it. The lollipops help as well as sucking on a drink/bottle. You can always go back to ped for a recheck before flight for some reassurance. Good luck.

Thanks Ladies! I'll be calling the doc for a re-check. Now let's just hope he doesn't pick anything up while at the docs office for the check!!

Ear infection and flying in two weeks...
I just flew on Monday while sick, and it totally messed up my ears. I felt like crying on the descent. They have been messed up since then with no hearing on one ear. But, you have 2 weeks, so I think it will be fine by then!

2 weeks will be plenty of time - a day or 2 of antibiotics and the infection begins to clear up right away - I'd go back to the Dr. for a recheck closer to the flight, if anything ask him to give you a script for antibiotic in case it DOES flare up again. -
