The logistics of finding sitters for 4 kids

A very good friend of DH's is getting married on April 25th. It is a day wedding, the reception is over at 5 and I am not even sure we would stay the whole time. The girls will be 6 weeks. Both my parents & my in laws have agreed to take 2 kids for the day. They don't care which 2 they take. My parents could not handle both babies, so it would either be they take the boys (almost 4 & 2), and my in laws take the girls, or they each take one boy & one twin. Is it silly for me to think that being separated will stress the girls out? I am not nervous to leave them together with my inlaws. I trust them as much as I trust myself & DH. It is more on what will be best for the kids, and all of the grandparents. I don't want anyone to have a stressful day!

I would probably leave the twins together and the boys together as groups of two. Only bc the boys will have similar needs and interests and the babies will have the same needs and timing, etc.

I would have your parents take the boys and in laws take the babies. I think the older ones would have more fun together, and if they were each with a baby instead of each other it would limit the activities they could do. I have 4 and would usually divide them between the 2 grandparents when they were younger. My younger 2 are not twins but are 17 months apart. Now that my youngest is almost 2 it is not as hard and one sitter can handle them, but when we go away without dc I still leave the older 2 with my mom and younger 2 with mil.

Yup. This. Much easier this way. That way they don't have to worry about making a bottle, etc. while trying to entertain the older ones.

I have triplets, 2 even shared a sac, and honestly separating them so young is really no big deal. Do whatever arrangement is best for you and the folks :) and enjoy yourself!!

I would prob send one baby and one boy with each. I actually feel that levels the playing field.

Thanks everyone for their input. We are leaning towards the boys with my parents, girls with my in laws. I called MIL last night and she said they are very comfortable having 2 6 week olds for the day. Hopefully it is a nice day so my parents can take the boys outside, I would feel bad if they are stuck in the house with a 4 & 2 yr old all day !

My twins couldnt care less if they were separated til they were a bit older and actually knew the other existed. But is keep the twins together just to keep them on the same schedule. Have your ILs take them.

THIS. I would suggest both twins staying together and the other two staying together. If your parents can't take the twins but the in-laws can, go for it.

Agree with this--especially if they're relatively chill babies.
