All inclusive rec- anything like beaches?
We've been to beaches in Turks and LOVED it. Any other all inclusive to consider that has so much going on, with lots of food options, entertainment, great for young kids, a beach, multiple pools, nice rooms etc? Does anyhting else compare? We have a 4 year old, a 3 year old and a 9 month old. We've also been to Beaches JAmaica and I wasn't a fan. Thought food options were limited and there wasn't AC everywhere which we found annoying. Thanks!

We had a great experience at Dreams in Rivera Maya. We actually returned to the same resort a few years later.

We went to Dreams in La Romana and had a very good time. It wasn't as "upscale" as I expected, but overall, everything was very nice. There were 4-5 restuarants (if I recall correctly), plus a few quick service options. And they had a lot of activities throughout the day

Re: All inclusive rec- anything like beaches?
My friend was just raving about Grand Velas Riviera Maya. My friend is a foodie. They invited us for spring break and we are considering it.
I didn't love Beaches Turks and Caicos but I loved our trip to Atlantis last year. It isn't all inclusive but I thought it was better all around - better water features, better spa, better food, better rooms (at the Cove), better kid activities (extra costs). I did not think the Sesame St show was very good and neither did my kids. They are not sesame st fans though.
I think people either love all inclusives or don't. I'm not a fan. On the other hand, DH thinks it is the best. I'd rather pay more a la carte for a better drink, meal, activity.

Re: All inclusive rec- anything like beaches?
I have ben to quite a few all inclusives....I like the Iberostar Resorts the best (been to 2 in DR and a couple time in Mexico). I have also been to Dreams in the Mayan Riviera. I like Iberostar a little more for overall experience. Although Dreams was great for the kids. I have also been to Atlantis with the food package (didn't include all meals and drink). PM me if you have questions about any of them.
Never been to Beaches in Turks and Caicos so can't compare. I have friends who loved it and friends who think it is just ok...weeks I have priced it (usually spring break) it would cost like 15000 for my family of 5 with airfare and can't believe any all inclusive resort is worth that...esp the same week I got Dreams for about $4000 and since my kids are too old for or not into Sesame street and I've been to turks and caicos before (years and years ago to club med) and while beautiful - can't see the value.

My DS hates Sesame street. We are looking for something (not mexico) to go to this July. I always thought Atlantis was all inclusive. Guess not..
Anyway.. following this thread.

Nothing really compares to Beached Turks and Caicos. Beaches Negril is nice. I don't think Beaches Ocho Rios compares at all.
Check out the Hard Rock Riviera Maya. That resort is brand new and has a ton of amazing features.

A lot of the good ones are in mexico. If you don't mind a HUGE resort, there is the Melia in Punta Cana. They have Flintstones.
Dreams is opening a new resort in DR this summer. it looks like it's going to be awesome with a great kids' club, but it's always iffy going to a new resort.. There are other Dreams resorts there as well. it's a pretty solid brand. It doesn't compare to Beaches T&C though. Whenever someone comes to me for a family AI, my answer is Beaches T&C if it's in the budget. Only if it isn't, do we go beyond.
A less pricey brand I have started sending people to at the recommendation of other agents is Catalonia. They have resorts in CUN and PUJ. They're much more laid back. it's a Spanish owned company (hence the name) so it attracts a lot of Europeans. The resorts aren't 5 star, but the price great.

Coconut Bay in St Lucia has an adult side and a family side and it looks great and has good reviews.

If you want to do Atlantis and want an all inclusive, stay at the RIU next door which is an all inclusive. You can walk next door, you can pay for a day to use there pool, and pay for all the other activities and there restaurants.
