Normal???

He is loud beyond loud!

If he's upset, doesn't get his way, if something hurts he just screams ....there is no stopping him(he can't hear me over his screams) he screams so much his voice is often hoarse.

I can't take it... Because there is no rationalizing with him!

When he was in the NICU a nurse told us "wow he's got some set of lungs on him watch out when he is older"

If this is normal when does it get better?

Does he scream at school or just for you? Do you think something else going on? Does he have trouble sitting? Does he speak well or go to speech?

My 4.5 year old was like this!!!

He is awesome at school, for coaches, etc. it is just with us.

It has gotten better the past few months (Hope I don't jinx myself saying that). He will be 5 next April.

He is just loud. I usually ignored or went into another room and it stopped. If he did in public, I just tried to quietly calm him down while everyone stared at us!Chat Icon

I think as they get older, they can manage their outbursts. But they will probably still be emotional.

I think it's the age. My dd1 is 4 and exaggerates EVERYTHING. She's so loud. I'm always saying tone it down, we are RIGHT here lol. Emotional also. Cries at everything.

In school, shes as quiet as a mouse and the teachers can't hear her and she has to repeat everything louder lol

They were born to drive us crazy!!!!!! lol

My DS is the SAME EXACT WAY! He's fine in school. I was literally about to get him a psych evaluation it's so bad. There is no rationalozing with him. It's terrible! He can't hear me over his screams and when I try to talk he screams louder. The only reason I did not get him a psych evaluation was because at his parent teacher conference the teacher said he is great. His teacher witnessed one of his fits in the hallway once and said she sees none of that in the classroom. She said kids are completely different for their parents than they are for others many times. She told me while he is not emotionally behind he is emotionally slower than his twin sister. But girls mature faster than boys usually. What we started doing is when he gets like this and he won't listen to what we are trying g to say and when he gets louder is we take him up to his room and leave him in there for 5 minutes while he is still screaming. Probably not even 5 minutes. But then it kind of "resets" him because when we walk back in we ask him if he is ready to talk. At that point he stops screaming but he's still crying amd we sit down on the bed and talk about whatever upset him. It works for now because I seriously don't know what else to do. I would literally walk in my room and cry when he got like this because I had no idea what was going on with him and why he was doing this. I'm sorry you have to deal with it but let me tell you I am SO glad to know that my son is not the only one who acts like this. All my other mom friends of boys say that their sons never had these types of tantrums on a regular basis!

never does it at school.
There are times when my younger ds is sleeping and I just want to scream. I can ignore it when it's a behavior but there are times when it is ok for him to be upset but I justnneed him to tone it down a bit. I just can't seem to do it.
My dd on the other hand is a whole other type of tantrum. She likes to get naked in public Chat Icon

My 3.5 yo DD is the same way. Not like this at school at all aprr her teacher. Thr worst is when I finally get the baby to sleep and she starts her noise for no real reason. So frustrating Chat Icon
