So how long does that stomach bug last? (may be TMI)
So AJ wakes up fine Sunday morning (630a) but said she had a tummy ache. We play around for a bit then said she had a headache and went to bed at 930a I let her sleep. After over an hour I wake her up for a Girl Scout meeting we have but mostly so she doesn't over sleep. I see her face and I know...
She has a fever. Low grade in my world a little over 101. Tylenol kicks it down but she's not eating. ALL DAY Its now noonish? She just sits and watches TV sorta bleh. But with the Tylenol she sort of perks up. No fever and nearly herself she wants to go to Girl Scouts. So I grab the neighbor's kid pack both girls and off we go.
During the next hour and a half she's fine, Giggling, running, climbing, etc. All is well. After Girl Scouts I take the girls for McDonalds and they both want to go in and sit to eat. So we do. But AJ is shivering. No fever tho. I call it quits and tell the BFF to pack up her meal. Taking my baby home. Well AJ makes it 3 feet before it hits
She leaves a trail of clear liquid and small bits of fries all the way to the bathroom. I get her there and she finishes off in a trash can. Still a little shaky but better. I take her home and she goes straight to bed (yes I talked to the neighbor just in case).
We gave her Motrin but honestly she looked better after getting it out. About a half hour later she's hoping off the walls back to herself. Eating a TON of food!
No more drugs, no more fever. Wakes up still no fever. Goes to school and says her tummy hurts again. But hey she ate some strange food the night before so I let it go.
Got a call at noon. "Mrs.. XXXX your daughter is here with me saying her tummy hurts. Her temp is 97.6 (? whatever) and she's otherwise fine. Would you like her to go to class?" I said I guess so. Then she tells me "ok because you know there's a tummy bug going around" oh great, now you tell me!?
So they gave her some water and sent her back. Its nearly 4p now and no word so I guess she made it.
She and I are a lot a like. We don't show signs until its way too late and once we toss up, we are good to go. But I don't know about tummy bugs. Are they all 24hours type things? We both bounce back fairly quickly (like same day) so I'm not sure if I should plan tomorrow's work day in case I have to go home or what.
Sorry for the long detail.
As of now, no fever still. I don't know if she ate lunch.
Should we be clear? haha stupid questions but my kid is never sick!

So how long does that stomach bug last? (may be TMI)
I think everyone is different. The times DS has had it he's vomiting on and off for 9-12 hours and that's it. The last one he had he was asking to eat. Some have posted on here that they last for days (I have an extreme fear of the stomach virus so reading that sends me into a complete internal frenzy).
I can tell you though that DS throws up whenever he has a fever and it starts to spike. He had 101.5 last night, threw up once and sure enough he was up to 103.5. He's been like that since he was a baby (he's three).
I would give probiotics a try.
Hope she feels better!

Could it be strep? Even though no complaints of sore throat?

no complaints of her throat. Just that one head ache and now lots of tummy ache.
Will gas drops help? Heading home now

Re: So how long does that stomach bug last? (may be TMI)
This happened to my DD last year. She had a low grade fever for 2 days and woke up one morning complaining that her tummy hurt. I had a work meeting that morning so I still took her to my moms. I had never seen her so mushy before. She didn't want to move or eat or anything. Finally she decided to eat a little bit and then all of the sudden she just threw up all over herself. She did it twice back to back and then she was totally fine after that. It was very strange. Neither DH or I got anything so I'm not sure if it was a tummy bug. Hope she feels better!

In my experience stomach bugs can vary in degree from vomiting once to being sick for up to a week. I think the "feeling" lingers. I know for me it does.
Can I ask why you brought her to girls scouts when you said she had a fever?
I may be overly cautious and my kids are still young but if I thought they had a fever I wouldn't send them.
Hope she is feeling better tom!

I was wondering the same thing! She had a fever which went away because you gave her Tylenol and you took her to Girl Scouts and brought the poor neighbour girl with you and to eat? And then you sent her to school less than 24 hrs after the fever and barfing? Am I missing something here?
I do hope she feels much better and I find every bug is different so no way to tell how long it will last even when it seems fine! Good luck!

Last year my DS bug was about 24 hours of vommitting. I didn't give him any gas drops or meds but gave ginger ale, crackers, toast and chicken noodle soup. First night and day, I just gave him the broth. I eased into foods. He didn't eat right till about a week after.

Fever of 101 isn't concerning in our house. Especially since she was bundled up as she napped. And she was fine before we left the poor neighbor knew but she too said she looked fine acted and seemed ok. as I said I made sure to let her know about AJ throwing up. You can and will get fevers with colds and allergies. It's if the the fevers last or if they are persistent that we watch. she hasn't gotten the fever since then. And I'm not medicating her for it either.
She was fine the rest of the day at school still no fever no vomiting no bad bowels so I guess it was indeed over that quick
She won't drink any soda even if flat so no ginger ale.
Thankfully she was 100% by the time she was home says she didn't touch lunch then slipped and told me what she ate. Less than usual but still she ate full dinner no issues
thanks for the insight though. I guess this was a bug. She's never had this before but good to know.

Actually another girl at girl scouts had missed nearly a week of half days to the bug (because I told the other moms - some are nurses) they all thought I must be overreacting as she seemed fine. Not the first time a girl has gone recovering or battling a fever and no one got sick. We all just tell each other. Very open. Kids get sick. They all have their shots. But really not seeing the big deal unless they are lethargic. Which she was not.
No one flinched
