If your 6-12 Month BF baby takes vitamins
What kind of vitamins do they take?
DS is EBF 7 months and we are starting solids this week.
The Dr prescribed a multi vitamin w/fluoride. The pharmacy said there are manufacturing issues and there is only 1 company making it and it's $32.99 for 1 50ml bottle, and not covered by my ins.
I don't think my daughter started fluoride vitamins until 12months. I'm not anti-fluoride, but want to see what others moms are giving there kids at this age.
Or if anyone else heard of a fluoride vitamin shortage.

Re: If your 6-12 Month BF baby takes vitamins
My ped said my breast fed baby didn't need vitamins except the vitamin d drops. At 12mos she said she is supposed to mention the flouride vitamin which I denied.

At 6 months we started multivitamins with iron and fluoride. She took those for a long time and then switched to a chewable version around 18 months or 2 years.

My ped is very uninformed on BFing, that's why I figured I'd ask. I have to get more vit D. I didn't give it to him all summer bc we were outside often.

Re: If your 6-12 Month BF baby takes vitamins
DD is EBF and she was on Poly Vi Sol with Iron since she was in the hospital (34 week preemie). At 6 months her ped prescribed a multivitamin with fluoride and we've been using that since. But luckily my insurance covers the whole thing and I don't have to pay anything out of pocket for it.

I might have had to pay for my DD, but it certainly wasn't $32.99! I'm going to double check with my ped, and then double check with the pharmacy about the price. If everything is right, I guess I'll pay the $32.99. Lol.

Vit D is the only drop she took. I took a prenatal. That's all

Re: If your 6-12 Month BF baby takes vitamins
My doc said vitamin D is the only thing DD needs while BFing and I continue to take prenatals. With DD1, once i finished BFing, I put her on a multi-vitamin by Animal Parade (sold at health food stores). I'll probably do the same with DD2 when she turns a year. We don't do fluoride.

I don't remember paying that much at all. I don't know the name, but there is a website where you can put in the rx and it will tell you the prices at different pharmacies. Maybe someone knows it?

DD's pediatrician gave me a vitamin with fluoride when she was 6 mos but I didn't start giving it to her until 13/14 mos. my insurance covers the cost.
