c sections... stitches, staples, surgi tape
I was just wondering since this is section #3 for me. I'm not sure that there is much choice in how you are closed up since I had 2 different doctors who closed me 2 different ways. I am trying to make my recovery as quick and comfortable as possible.
I had surgi tape with my first. I was in a lot of pain after the operation but didn't have anything that needed removal. The second was staples. I got out of bed per my own request, a lot sooner which I think helped my recovery. She was born at 1am I was out of bed by 10am the next day. However, I hated having the staples removed. This is my third and I'm a little more concerned about the potential to overdo things and I have heard stitches will hold you together best and don't require removal. Not sure if that's true.
Anyway, curious about other people's experiences. Again, not sure the doctors take requests on these things.

Re: c sections... stitches, staples, surgi tape
I had staples with both kids, no pain at the incision site - more just core, muscular pain. No issues, no reopening of the incision. I left the hospital on day 3 with DD but they were not removed until day 7 since I left early.
DS - staples removed at 4 days post op DD - staples removed at 7 days post op

Re: c sections... stitches, staples, surgi tape
With both of my C-sections I had stitches on the inside and staples on the outside.
The staples hurt like hell as your skin heals, your skin starts to dry up and the staples pull. Ouch! Luckily they come out a few days after the surgery.
ETA - I was not given a choice in the matter.

I had staples. No pain or anything and my scar is next to nothing.

I had stitches and tape. I'm guessing your tape was not what they used on me because 2 days after my c/s they removed it. That hurt like hell and I actually had some torn skin. (My toes are curling just thinking about it lol.)

Re: c sections... stitches, staples, surgi tape
Stitches on the inside, surgi tape on the outside. Didn't feel the tape, it just fell off on it's own about three days after discharge (went home on day 4.)
However, I did get an infection, incision didn't open, but the area below was just really puffy and sore, so now it's been oozing for about a week and I've been on antibiotic as well. Hoping it ends soon (gets better every day.)
I didn't have a choice.

Re: c sections... stitches, staples, surgi tape
I had surgical glue for my first and it healed beautifully. Everyone was commenting on how great it looked and healed.
The second time it was a different dr and they wanted to use staples. I requested the glue again and had the same great experience.
I don't know the difference between glue and tape.

Re: c sections... stitches, staples, surgi tape
Both times staples removed on day 4 no issues with either. Only the first time I was much more sore around the area but numb around the scar.
I was given the option to have dissolve stitches but heard there was a higher chance of infection that way so I opted for the staples. The removal I didn't feel either time because I hit the pain pump right before.

Re: c sections... stitches, staples, surgi tape
I had staples and thought they were wonderful!! Super easy to remove, no pain, etc...
My sister had surgical tape and it ended up peeling her skin raw which caused her more pain than the actual incision....
This time around, i'm assuming staples again....
