Ebf and poopy diaper leaks

I've heard that when diapers start leaking it is time to upsize, but I don't know if it is normal for ebf baby poop to sometimes leak out around the legs. The ruffles are out, and this has happened with two different brands. If I upsize it would mean my 10w old, 12 pounder needs size 3?!? That seems crazy!

So is this normal or do I need bigger diapers?

It could also be the brand, maybe try a different type? Also bf babies poop is very liquidy so that could also be why. I'd try a few different brands.

DS2 is EBF and he had explosive poopy diapers for a long time. And it def wasn't time to go up in size. It was just so liquidy and so much sometimes that it oozed out. Many a onesie was ruined around here. It did happen more when it was time to switch sizes but size 3 at 10 weeks would seem to be a bit much. DS is 95th%ile in weight and at 7 months is just moving to size 4 (he's 21lbs). It got better with time and now with solids in the mix, it's much better!

My baby (breastfed) had watery seedy ride up the back poops. I found Luvs yo work well. Nice fit around thighs. I had problem with poop leaking out & up her back..that when you go up a size.

My DS's poop used to leak out the legs when he was EBF too. I actually had to go DOWN a size. His legs were too skinny, and the elastic around the legs on the diaper just didn't even touch his legs.

I had that issue with the legs with DD for a looong time. I usually used pampers and sometimes huggies which I found even worse. I switched to Luvs around 4 months and things were much better. Once we started solids I really never had any more leaks.

Hailey was FF and she had leaks all the time... it might be the brand or make them a bit tighter. She stopped the constant leaks at like 5m. Once she started solids and her poo became more solid they stopped.

My EBF DD is started to have frequent leaks but I do think I need to go up to size 2. I've been holding off because I recently bought a big box of size 1! But like PP said DD1, who was also EBF had blow outs constantly until about 5 months when she started solids, so it could just be BF poop.

Not sure what brands you are using, but different brands have different weight limits. DD is EBF and leaks in Huggies no matter what size. I get fewer leaks with Luvs and Pampers.

My DD is EBF and has leaky poopy diapers all the time. She is now 18 lbs (97th percentile) wearing Pampers size 5. At first it was only going up her back but now I'm finding that it is also around the thighs too. The ruffles are out and we are still having leaks.

The legs might be too big. Every time my girls leaked it was b/c they leg holes were too big.

ETA overnight pp leaks means size up.
