Is anyone here getting there insurance through the exchange?
If so what plan did you choose? Being a small business owner- I have to purchase my healthcare this way now....but I recently switched over to BCBS Empire blue so that my new RE would be covered - and checked with my new PCP and PB?GYN office that all took it - (they all said they took all Empire BCBS plans) now that I got my ID cards and checked through the website I cannot find my OB - I guess I could switch to another but I don't want to as I really trust and like them but Im think that it would ultimately be cheaper to pay OOP for my OB/GYN right now than my RE Right? I guess I don't have any idea what it will cost me to see my RE for all these treatment and Im wondering if anyone who has insurance through the exchange gets any treatments covered through this....bld work, sonos, office visit etc....(im sure ivf and iui and not covered) or are there better plans through the exchange for IF? TIA

I was told, from my broker and when I called the insurance companies myself, that none of the exchange insurances have any IF coverage. Zero. I didn't even bother to ask if it covered diagnostic testing for Iaf bc I didn't need anymore of that, but I *think* NY state law mandates that the testing be covered by insurance. You can just call member services and ask that question.
I had the same problem when I thought I needed to switch to the exchange. I called all my drs and everyone said they took all Empire BCBS plans but when I looked for them through the exchange website, they were not there. Nobody was. My hospital - nothing. I called my broker again and he said there are a lot if drs who have opted out of accepting it bc for them, it's worse then Medicaid when it comes to paperwork and payments. But that may change as time goes on with this bc more and more people will only have this insurance.
We were able to keep our privately purchased insurance for another year. It stinks but for now, it's better then the exchange choices. Hopefully these drs will get on board soon and start accepting it.

Truth. If you can get on the nslij plan, there are a good handful of docs on it and it's not nearly as bad as the other. Both payments and paperwork are better (payments closer to Medicare vs Medicaid).

thanks for all that info ....if you don't mind my asking...how did you get around buying your insurance through the exchange? I tried this but every broker I called said it was our only option....ugghhh what I don't understand if they don't cover anything for IF is why my RE is in the network but I guess things like the hysteroscopy I need should be covered through him but IUI wont but hopefully monitoring for the IUIs would be covered....I guess I will see......Thanks again

We were already buying our own insurance. People who already had their own insurance had the option if keeping it for another year. After realizing the exchange wasn't going to work, we decided to stay with what we have (even though it's so expensive and pretty crappy insurance )
