What do you do if your LO wakes up early but you know they can still sleep?

DS is 16 months and until recently I nursed him at bedtime and every time he woke up in the middle the night (which sometimes was very often) and early morning. I am trying to wean him off of nursing so I have stopped the bedtime and middle of the night feedings but I don't know what to do when he wakes up early in the morning. He usually wakes up about 6 AM and if I nurse him he will sleep about another hour and a half to two hours. He doesn't take a bottle so I can't give him that instead of nursing him. Is there anything I can do instead of nursing him to get him to sleep that extra hour and a half to two hours?

Ha! My kids rarely sleep past 6/630am unless i bring them into our bed. The only thing i can suggest is to put a toy and some books in their. My little one will wake but play for sometime before getting upset.

Once I weaned DD, she never went back to sleep. She is always up sometime between 5:30am-6:30am. If she wakes up before 6am, we don't go to her until then. And when she sleeps until 6:30 it's almost a blessing at this point. It's just the way it is!
