Sippy cup help

How do I get my 8 month old to drink out of a sippy. She shows no interest in any of them whether they have a straw or not. She's been showing an interest in my water bottle so I tried it and she drank like a champ out of the bottle and out of a real cup but she can't drink those by herself.

I started with the playtex little grippers straw cup. You can squeeze the liquid up the straw to help her get started. That said, it took DD a while to get interested in drinking from them and rarely took more than an ounce or two for a very long time.

I drink from camelbaks all the time and starting around 9-10 months DD started grabbing them and drinking from them. She still does now even though she's fine with any straw cup at this point, she just likes my big one so she can be like me. I got her the kids camelbak when she turned one and she likes those too. Definitely helps when they want to be like you!

It took my dd a good 3 months to really drink from the straw and then another month- month a half of her taking a sip but then drinking a lot and spitting it out all over herself. After that she got it and loves it and asks for her cup now.

I use Playtex grippers with the handles and now that shes older she has the bigger ones without the handles.

I gave dd a Tommy tippie spout cup and it was originally not accepted until I started calling it a baba cause it has milk in it. That took about 4 days to get her to drink out of and for anything else like water I consistently use a different type of cup or sippie cup

I think it just takes time. At 8months, a baby's diet still consists of a lot of liquid- lots of formula, BM, even fruits and veggies contain a lot of water. They just don't need much water. DD literally only "sipped" from her sippy until like a year old, even though we started at 6 months. Now that she's down to drinking just milk twice a day, and eating all table food, she drinks more water. Just keep exposing DD to the sippy, it'll come!

It takes time, just keep offering it. She will soon get the hang of it.

I wouldn't stress it. I stressed it, and it was pointless lol I have like 6 different sippy cups in the cabinet. I started giving her water out of the end of a straw... ya know, like I'd drop it into her mouth like a baby bird. then every so often I'd see if she would actually start drinking from the straw. 1 out of 10 times she would I'd say. then one day I offered her a Minnie mouse sippy cup (she's OBSESSED) and instead of flinging it across the room like usual, she held on to it, took a sip here or there etc. she was at least a year before that happened though. now at 14 months, I'd say she'll drink like 4-6oz of water from her sippy throughout the day.

She likes one of her sippys. Its dark blue instead of pink and clear like her bottles so she happily was taking sips of water. She tried to drink it herself but didn't work so we are working on that.
