It's all from Santa.
One day, when they no longer believe, they will realize it was all from us and we will get our props.  I really don't see a need to differentiate.
I agree! I think it is way too confusing for a 3 and 5 year old.

Every Xmas Eve my DS gets his special Xmas PJs, his Hess Truck, and special ornament from me (same tradition every year). Everything else is from Santa the next morning.

Usually the stuff they ask for is from Santa -
DH and I get them one big gift combined, and that's from us.
This year it's one of those 2 seater cars - everything else though, is from Santa.
We started this b/c they get gifts from a ton of family and friends and I didn't like people saying "Oh Santa came early to my house, and Santa left this for you at my house" - No. Santa comes on Christmas Eve to OUR house and brings their toys - Why would he leave toys for them at their cousin's house?
So we started clarifying for them then that these gifts are from your cousins or aunt or whatever .......and we GIVE these gifts from us to your cousins ..........but Santa brings ........well, whatever he brings on Christmas Eve while you're sleeping.

DS is 3 and totally "gets" Santa this year. He had a very specific wish list for Santa and those gift are from him (truck, bulldozer and a dragon). There is one from Mama Claus, one from one of his favorite toys and the rest are from us.

ETA: santa only gives the stockings since he gives to all the boys and girls. All the big gifts and stuff are from parents who tell their kids its from santa, but Santa gives to everyone, small, rich or poor, so he is always fair, always even. So many kids in the world you know. So no, santa didn't get you that big gift, mama did. but Mama sent it to santa and if you've been good he'll send it back packaged. Odd very complicated thing but I always wanted her to know who gifts came from and to say thank you to everyone. Plus she quickly caught on and loves to give gifts to others.

We split it up. All the cool stuff is usually from Santa because Santa knows he'd like it. All the other boring stuff is from us like books or a cute T-shirt.
Santa doesn't wrap gifts/stockings in our house - he doesn't have time bc he's busy going around to all the houses in the world. Saves me from trying to remember what paper to not use from year to year!

Everything is from santa for my 3 and 5 yo. If we split it, they would figure us out. They already ask too many questions, things are not adding up for my 5 yo no way they would believe if some of the gifts were from us.

All gifts are from Santa. I honestly don't get the whole "some from mom and dad, some from Santa" thing. Why separate it? The magic of Christmas morning to me is the idea that Santa came into your house and left you presents because you were a good girl/boy. It's not the same to see a present from mom or dad because they give presents other times as well. That seems so normal and Christmas isn't normal, it's magical. It's just not the way I grew up.

one from us(because we give everyone else gifts, so why not our kids- incase they wonder- we give it to them on xmas eve.

All from Santa, 4, 6 and 8. This may have to change....The older two were in a mood tonight and very snippily said to me, you never buy anything for us for Christmas, we always get you something. They said it with such attitude I was so angry, If I didn't walk away I might have told them who their presents are really from. Work so hard and Santa gets all the credit, geeze! One day.....
