Toddler sleep help-desperate!!!
A little background. My dd is almost 3 and has been an amazing sleeper. Recently she developed a yeast infection and started to wake up once a night to go to the bathroom. Fine no big deal. From there it has gotten worse and worse. She started waking up crying saying she was itchy and needed medicine. I have had her at the dr 3 or 4 times. I took her Tuesday after she was up 2 hours saying it hurt. Now in the back of my mind I knew that she is definitely the kid that will play this up and "manipulate me" a little bit. Anyway I took her tues and ped says infection is gone and that she is probably complaining at out habit an because she now know that is what will get me to come in the middle of the night.
Well tonight has been horrific. 2.5 hours of screaming at bedtime climbing over the gate to get out of her room with every excuse under the sun of why she can't go to bed. It's too dark, my pants are too long etc
She woke up at 2 am and had been up for nearly 2 hours. The doctor told me if she wakes up put desitin on and hen let her cry if need be. Problem is I can't keep her in her room.
She is definitely the type of kid that if you give her an inch she takes a mile. I am so torn. Is she still umcomfortable and need me or is she just being 3.
Also how so you keep kids in their rooms?
I am so sad over this. I feel like a terrible mom. I want to do the right thing for her and I hate this.

Oy. No real advice, but to you. It is so hard...
I feel like I would lay down with her in her bed til she goes to sleep. Prob creating bad habits, I know, but crying is just too heartbreaking for me.
Hang in there!

That sounds really tough. I'm sure you're talking to her about it during the day. Maybe you can come up with a reward and tell her if she stays in her bed all night she can get or do something special.

Re: Toddler sleep help-desperate!!!
Thank you! I have been having her work for something. I am going to try a prize box that she can see in her room.
The hardest part is I really don't know if she is truly uncomfortable or just playing me.
She must have asked for cream 50x last night. Maybe I'll try a chart where she can only have cream a certain amount of times.

i think she is just playing you on the itchy part DD does it sometimes with other things and she will be 3 in January. DD does this if you give her the idea that somethign is wrong than somethign is wrong.

I took her and her twin brother to the dollar store after work today and we picked out some toys. I let DS get one right away since he stayed in bed last night and told her should couldn't have one today. She was sad but she knew I meant business. I told her if she stayed in bed tonight she could pick on tomorrow in the am. I put the basket right on the floor by her bed because I think she will need a visual reminder in the middle of the night. She went to bed without an issue...not sure how the middle of the night will go. I am going to bed now just in case

Toddler sleep help-desperate!!!
Thank you. I was following this thread and I forgot about it. Sleep deprived……DH works nights so I am home alone dealing with it.
It's really getting me down. I feel terrible. And the nights that DH is home he is only making it worse for me b/c he has no patience for the screaming.
Thanks for the support.
