Desperate for Toddler sleep advice!!!
DS is 21.5 months. For the past 2 months he won't go to sleep on his own, won't sleep in his crib, won't STTN. He sleeps in the PNP in our room, usually wakes up and ends up in our bed with us. He takes 1 nap (about 1+ hr) a day, sometimes, but rarely 2 naps. DH and I decided to let him CIO all over again over the weekend but DS climbed out of his crib in his sleep sack and walked into the living room! We are expecting DS#2 mid-July and need to fix this ASAP. Do we let him CIO and hope he doesn't climb out of his crib again? Lay on his bedroom floor while he CIO to stop him from climbing?
Any advice would be much appreciated
(Before all this we'd do our usual bedtime routine, DS would wave good night then flip and flop in his crib on his own for about 30 min, then STTN. He is also very clingy and attached to me and DH right now too!)

Re: Desperate for Toddler sleep advice!!!
We had the same thing, which is why we moved our DD to a toddler bed. She sleeps better in there, but not every night. Could it be the 2 year molars also? My DD was sooo bad and up all night when they were coming in.
Good luck

Definitely could be molars...DS went through this too (he's 2.5yrs now).
DS has been in a toddler bed since 17months and loves it. Would you consider switching?

Re: Desperate for Toddler sleep advice!!!
He has a whole row of teeth coming in, the upper side, so I guess it could be molars. Would it go on for this long?
I am afraid if we put him in a toddler bed he won't stay. Since we can't successfully CIO without him climbing, I just don't think he would stay in it.

Re: Desperate for Toddler sleep advice!!!
We are going through something similar. DS is 20 months and lately he does not STTN. He woke up twice last night, 1:30 and again at 5:30AM. I have been going in there and rocking him to sleep but I'm going to have to stop. He was up for over an hour (5:30-6:40AM) and since he doesn't get good sleep, is now still asleep at 8:30AM. I can't understand what is goign on, he was never like this.
I have heard of separation anxiety causing sleep problems around this age - I was going to try and read up on that today. It could be the teeth too. DS is not a crier (rarely cries) but when his teeth are coming in he tends to wake up at night.
Hope things get better soon. Sorry that I don't have any advice.

Re: Desperate for Toddler sleep advice!!!
would you consider getting one of those crib tent covers to keep DS from climbing out during CIO? i hear they work well.

Re: Desperate for Toddler sleep advice!!!
DD was a very late teether (in 3 months she got 7 teeth) so it was a rough few months were she was waking EVERY single night. Then she got sick for two weeks and slept in our bed..terrible habit to break. After speaking to the ped...he told me at her age (19 months) she should not be waking from teeth. We let her CIO and after a week of the same night routine she's sttn again (it's been over a month). I would look into the crib tent so he can't get out.
