1 year blood test
My ds had his 9 month check up yesterday and we were given scripts for the 1 year blood tests to be done before his next appt at a year. When did you guys have yours done for your DC?

We did it a little over 11 months, but you can do it now if you want to get it over with. They had tried at her 9 month checkup, but couldn't find a vein, so I wasn't in any hurry to have it done. The phlebotomist at the lab found her vein no problem though. Good luck!

I had her 1 year bloodwork done at 2 1/2 years old.
On the upside, it took care of the 1 year and 2 year bloodwork with one blood draw- less stress on us all!

1 1/2 - went at one and had a bad experience, they couldn't draw blood. didn't go back for 6 months mommy was scarred lol!

At her one year check up they did the test on site and it was a finger prick, I was so nervous it was going to be from the arm but the dr said since they have the lab on site they do it from the finger.
She didn't even cry and was thrilled with her bandaid! I was so impressed.

My ped did it at the office, just a fingerprick at 10 months. I wish I had waited as he showed low iron and really he had just started eating eggs and meat, so I feel if we had waited till 12 months, he would have had higher iron levels. The reasoning for doing it earlier was that he would get enough shots at his 12 months, but he ended up having to do the fingerprick again to retest his levels, they were great then.
They did tell me he would have to do it again at 2 years, which is in a few weeks.

We went to the lab at Good Sam bc I was told they are great with kids...(I didn't find them to be great, and the woman actually snapped at me bc I let go of DDs arm too soon while I was holding her down!). We went a month after her 1 year check up, but her white count was high bc apparently she was sick, so we had to recheck the following month.
For her 2 year check up I took her to my regular Quest lab and had a great experience.

Am I the only one who was never told to have one year bloodwork? DD Is 18 months and no mention of it.
