New here and needs help!
I got married July 2011 and although I wasn't actively TTC right after the wedding, I stopped birth control and waited to see if anything happened. A little over a year ago, my husband and I really started to try- we bought ovulation kits and started counting the days. Nothing is working and we are starting to get frustrated! We went to see my gyno and my husband took the sperm test (everything came out better than great) and I did a blood test to determine if I ovulate (which showed I do). 2 months later, still nothing. My gyno had also given my a script for a HSG test so I am planning to do that this month. I have been looking at the boards for advice from others women having the same problems. Any info you can provide me, I'd be so happy!! TIA!

I did the hsg test. Not the most fun thing in the world but goes by quickly. I have heard that sometimes getting this done opens your tubes up and you get pregnant right away. I'm curious, how long did it take you to get the results from the sperm analysis? Was your husband really nervous? Mine is so we are probably going to wait until the summer when his schedule is lighter. Its worse that all of my tests came back clear bc now he is convinced there is something wrong with him. I keep telling him it takes time.
Anyway- welcome and good luck

Re: New here and needs help!
I thought my husband was going to be nervous for the sperm test but I was more nervous for him! He said that everyone was very professional and that made it easier- remember these nurses deal with guys coming in for tests all day long, every day. He said there was another person going in after him as well. He was okay and it took 1 week for the lab to fax the results to my gyno. He was told that he needed to abstain from sex (and other things) for about 2-3 days so he went when I had my period so we didn't miss anything!
That's good news about the HSG test! Not looking forward to it but I guess that's the next step.

New here and needs help!
If you have been trying for over a year you may want to consider seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. They have more experience with these things.

Re: New here and needs help!
We've been using no method of bc since 2009 and never got pregnant. In March of this year I had the HSG test done and bam preggo!
The test was a bit painful for me but it was only for a few seconds. Good luck I hope you get your sticky soon.

Re: New here and needs help!
If it has been a year and no luck, I would definitely make an appointment with a Reproductive Endocrinologist for a full work up. Bring copies of all of your blood work and your husbands sperm analysis. He/she will order a full work up...HSG, hysterosono (water sono), endometrial biopsy, full battery of blood work...etc. Regular Gyn does not specialize in these kinds of things. I can tell you from experience, none of the tests are awful! I had the most discomfort with the HSG, but it was only for a second. None of them caused excruciating pain. I am a COMPLETE baby and I got through it all :)
Best of Luck to you!!!!!

Re: New here and needs help!
Same thing here only we stopped BC in '08 when we got married but only started officially trying this past oct. DH is fine and so am I(had HSG- not painful) and I possibly have a blocked Rt tube but the only way to know for sure is do it again (where it is is not operable and could be a spasm.) not worth the test again IMO. So we are labeled Unexplained Infertility (UI). Def look into an RE. They can do more tests and procedures like IUI/IVF if need be.
Good luck!!!

I totally agree with the other posters if you have been trying for over a year and no luck you may want to see an RE. They can give you a more accurate result of not being able to conceive.
Hopefully you get some answers with the HSG.
Good Luck
