When is the typical time to paint?
I was planning on starting to set things up in June (paint, carpet, furniture arriving in early July I hope, etc)
My mom thinks we should paint and recarpet sooner.
For reference, I'll be 28wks the beginning of June. I think any earlier is just not necessary, but my mom says the room may smell for a while. Ummm .. it won't smell for TWO months!!
What's everyone here doing?

When is the typical time to paint?
I wanted the room painted before my shower so I think it was done around 30 weeks.

Re: When is the typical time to paint?
Just painted at 26 weeks, but we have 2 weddings and my shower next month, so this was kinda the do or die weekend. We will still have to put the crib together.
ETA: our timeline had NOTHING to do with smell. Just lack of time. I think you will be fine

Re: When is the typical time to paint?
We are going to be starting in a couple weeks and I'm 27 weeks now. Probably around 29-30 weeks? We have to build a wall first so it is hanging on that.

Re: When is the typical time to paint?
I am 28 weeks now. Room was painted last week. Furniture came yesterday! We did it early because my cousin just had her baby a month early in Feb when she was supposed to be born in March and she had nothing done! So that was enough for me to have everything ready. Now my shower is May 18th and I have time to put stuff away in an already set up room.

Re: When is the typical time to paint?
Crashing....whenever you do it it will be fine! Just air out the room for a day or so. With the twins it was painted after they were born. DC #3 I did around 22 weeks only because I wanted stripes and I knew I couldn't trust dh to do itso I wanted to make sure I was mobile enough to do it myself Have fun!!!

When is the typical time to paint?
I am due in 2 weeks and I am carpeting and painting next week, but DD2 will move into DD1's room, so we are doing it all in DD1's new room. Decided to do it all at the last minute!

In 2 weeks DH is going to paint the nursery. He is also painting the other bedrooms at that time too. I will be 18 weeks at that time.

Re: When is the typical time to paint?
You'll be fine. We didn't even move into our house until DS was 5 weeks old. So we painted his room about a week before we moved in. Since it's warm just leave the windows open for a bit. We used Ben Moore paint though and I found it really didn't smell at all.

Re: When is the typical time to paint?
DH and my father just painted the past three weekends. We got new carpet installed last Friday. Babies are due in mid July. I wanted to be done early b/c with twins I could go early (fingers crossed that it doesn't happen). I also wanted to get it done while I can still move around, , though that is already getting hard.
ETA Do it whenever you have the itch to get started. With DS #1 we found out we were moving back to Long Island when he was only a few weeks. We never painted or carpeted b/c we were renting. We went on to live with my parents for over a year. I guess I got the itch to get things started early with these two b/c I never got to do it with DS 1.
If you want to wait...just wait.
