How much time do I need to paint???

So we are buying our first house - and we are looking to repaint the 3 bedrooms, living room with hall way and ktchen. Is 3 full days for me and my dad enough time?

He is a perfectionist.....

Honestly, I don't think so. How many coats do you plan on doing? Do you need to start with primer over the original colors? In our rooms we did primer, then 2 coats of Benjamin Moore, but you need to give the coats time to dry before applying another.

I agree - that might be tight. It took us one whole day to paint the LR between taping, primer, two coats of paint. Then another day I did all the trim.

We would tape, the I would start cutting in while my husband went to start taping another room. As he got done, he came back to prime, then I would start cutting in on the second room. That's how we found it worked the best for us.

I guess that depends if you mean 3 entire days without work interrupting and whether or not you need to prime before you paint.

Even without priming, I still dont think 3 days will give you enough time for all that. I would say closer to 5 days.

Good luck and congrats on your new home!Chat Icon

I would say no. You have to tape, spackle any holes, let that dry, then sand them down, prime the spackle. Prime the walls (if you are painting over a dark color), then paint 1 coat, wait 2 hours to let dry, then paint last coat.

3 days is pushing it for all those rooms.

We had two professionals do LR, hallway, stairs, and 4 bedrooms. Took them about 5 days, and this is what they do for a living....

You also have to factor in drying time inbetween coats....

Definitely not enough time. You need time for the stuff to dry, especially if it's humid or raining. Plus you have to go in there and plaster any holes, do scraping, etc. For all that I would say at least a week.
