Is it crazy to sleep out...
An hour and 15 minutes away when you are over 38w? DH wants to go upstate to his father's and sleep there for one night - I will be 38w 2d. What do you think - crazy?

I don't think an hour and 15 minutes away is really that bad. Think about it, labor won't just come on and you'll shot a baby out. We are going to Cutchogue which is an hour and a half from us when I will be 35/36 weeks. My mom had me at 36 weeks and I've been saying I think I'm going to go early. We figure that I'm not going to pop out a kid in that time where I wouldn't see it coming. Go, enjoy yourself!

I wouldn't call it crazy, but I wouldn't do it either. I had my DD at 37 weeks 5 days. I was not expecting to go so early. It's very unpredictable so sleeping far from your hospital would be a gamble.

I don't think it's crazy at all. My hospital was 45 min-1 hr away for my first 3 pregnancies.

At that point I was more comfortable being close to home. My water broke at 330am and I would have panicked if that happened at someone else's house and being an hour away from home.

I'd be okay with it provided there were no other extenuating circumstances to the trip or my health at that point.

No way! My first labor and delivery was under 6 hours and they got progressively shorter and quicker after that.

Thanks everyone. Part of me is very nervous since I was induced with DD1 at 39w so I have no idea what my labor would have been like if I went on my own, so my labor could be really short. I guess I will see how my internals are going and base it upon that. I know things can change quickly, but if there is no progress yet then hopefully it will be ok. Or maybe I will get lucky and have the baby before that!

I wouldn't do it! This is coming from someone who delivered my DS at 35 weeks and DD at 36 weeks. I am going on lockdown and furthest I am driving is 20 mins to work at 32 weeks since I have a history of preemies.

No way I would do it if I was you either! I was a little over 39w when I was induced and there was no progress yet - induction took 48 hours - so I probably would have been late with DD.

I am considering a weekend away in PA at 38 weeks. The hotel is 2 hours away. I think even if labor started we would have time to make it back to the city. 1st DC i was 1 week early. An hour is not bad at all IMO
