Putting two words together/sentences

My DS has recently turned 2 and I'm wondering if its ok for him to not really be combing words yet. He does say "all gone" "I do" "out there" and sometimes "no more." A couple weeks ago he said "car bye-bye" when a car drove by. Is this considered a delay? He does have over 70 words that he uses if that matters.

My ds will be 2.5 in April. The past 2 months he has jumped leaps and bounds with his speech. At 2 he wasnt putting 2 words together at all except if asked and even then it was random. Within the past 2 weeks he has really exploded!

Give it time, it will come. As long as he understands and is speaking in general I wouldnt worry.

My son is 2.5 and in the last month or so his vocabulary has shot through the roof. We can actually have a conversation with him and he responds in full sentences Granted, not in the correct format but still sentences :)

Before that it was exactly what you described - a few words here and there grouped together.

My son is younger, but is also a preemie. I was told that they would not consider a speech delay until he is 3. I don't know if that is the standard or taking into account his adjusted age.
At 18 months, he really does not do anymore than babbling.

DS had about 30-40 words at his 2 yr check up and in the last 2 weeks (he's 2 yrs 3 months) he has made 2 and 3 word sentences and has had a word explosion. I am in awe of how far he has come.

I agree with PP as long as he understands and is speaking I wouldn't worry too much!

As an SLP I think he is starting and will be fine. It's not as if he isn't doing it all. Just keep bombarding him with langauge and describing and labeling EVERYTHING. He will get there. This level of talking at 2 doesn't concern me. My own DS was only doing a little more than this at just two. Now at almost 4 I can't get him to shut up!!

That sounds about right for 2. I think by 2.5 they are supposed to be putting more words together and growing in leaps and bounds with vocabulary.

At 2 my one daughter had few words but recognized everything. By 2.5-3 she was putting together the sentences etc. My other one was speaking full sentences at 1.5, every child is different.

Thanks ladies!! Good to hear. My DS was born prematurely by 8 weeks. I do forget to factor that in, but I know most stop adjusting at 2.

My daughter will be 2 at the end of the month and basically says the exact same as yours lol!She was also early but she seems to be right on track. I also don't worry because DS was a very late talker, really didn't start talking (in an understandable way) until after 3. Now his vocabulary is insane at almost 5 years old.

My twins are 26 months. I have a boy and a girl so I feel like I am seeing both ends of the spectrum. Dd talks a lot! She can put 4 words together.
At his 2 year appt ds wasn't saying that much and what he was saying was not clear. The ped said give it some time. Now 2 months later he is finally starting to really say a lot! Still not 100% clear but def seeing a word explosion.

My ds will be 2 1/2 in April. He knows how to say over a 100 words in the correct context. He said about three or four two word sentences at around 2. Now he can repeat everything we say except a few difficult names. He has had a word explosion the past two months. I would not worry at all.
