putting two words together?
what age are kids expected to put 2 words together? My DS is 14 months and has started saying 2 words combos like lights on and lights off (when i put my dining room light on and off...he tells me which one to do and then go bak and forth so it ends up looking like we are in club LOL) and thank you. He says/repeats a bunch of single words, but I am a little surprised he is saying/putting two words together. Did anyones else kids also do this around this age?

My DD was saying stuff like thank you from about that age (13 months I think). The Dr. said that is not really considered putting 2 words together. A few months ago she started saying things like hi daddy, shoes off, more ___, I thinks that is what is considered a 2 word sentence.
Either way you have a smart cookie there!!

Mine is 2 and doesn't put many words together...He can say words but doesn't put much together besdies Come on...

DS was at that age.....befor you know it, he will speaking in sentences....

Thank you i also sort of figured the word thank you was considered only a single word, but wasn't sure about lights on and lights off

My first DD starting saying 'whats that' at 10 months old. By 14 months she started saying 'love you'. She didn't have many 2 word sentances but she did say a few by that age. Kaitee is a little behind when it comes to talking though. Besides those few 2 word ones she didn't say much else untill about 18 months. Now at 24 months she is finally starting to string more things together.

DD is not doing this yet. Seems advanced to me! 
And I love the visual of you and DS clubbing it up with the lights on and off!

16 mths....Actually she says- "look at that" and I dont know where that came from.
other than that, typical, Thank you and Hi dada/momma.
Hes doing alright at 14 mths

OMG i forgot (i have been writing down what he is saying and knew their was another one and couldn't remember till now LOL), he also said "I love you", to me the other day, we were at my parents house and they were floored!
That makes sense, what your DD did with saying some two words, then it slowing down and then picking it back up From what my mommy friends have told me, thats more the norm

There is a difference between putting 2 words together and saying phrases apparently...
Thank you, Hi Mommy, Oh Boy, What's this, Sit Down...etc are considered phrases...
I guess it's b/c they were "taught" them together...
They are usually a little older when they start putting 2 words together...I eat, mommy go, you sit, etc....

It is so funny, maybe i should put music on when i do it
He's doing a lot of the talking now but i wonder if its going to slow down, as i said in my last post, i hear thats what tends to happen and then it will pick up again. Also some of the words are not clear or perfectly said, so i also wonder if i should be counting that as words too.
and he's still not walking yet (although he cruises everything, stands, etc), i think hes so into speaking that, thats being forgotten for now
