Concerned - Nausea and throwing up question
It's hard for me to keep a lot down. How can I be sure my baby's getting the necessary nutrients? I do take a prenatal but still worries. I am 7 wks.

Concerned - Nausea and throwing up question
I had this problem and ended up in the hospital a few times. Water made me even sicker. Try to put some lemon in a glass of water and sip just to stay hydrated. Also, apples seemed to stay down for me. NOTHING WITH DAIRY!!! Made me sicker. If you really can't keep anything down, call your doctor, it might be something you can't help yourself and they might have to put you on medication to help.

Re: Concerned - Nausea and throwing up question
As long as your keeping something down, at this point try not to worry if it's not as healthy or well rounded as you'd like. For about a month, and somewhat even now, I've only been able to tolerate bread and butter. That's it. No water. Just ginger ale (flat), or water mixed with juice (cranberry for me).
If you get to the point of dehydration, that's when to start getting concerned as the pp experienced.

Anything that had to do with lemon helped me. Nothing complicated helped, i just tried to stick to the saltines, bread, bagels, etc...but was limited. it really depended on the day Sipping flavored seltzer also helped

my dr said as long as you stay hydrated by drinking anything you can, you are fine. i couldn't even look at a vegetable during my first trimester and my doctor assured me it was not an issue.

My doctor said the same thing. he said it is perfectly normal. i told him many days i did not take my vitamins because everything just came up. he was fine with this too.

Re: Concerned - Nausea and throwing up question
If you can't keep down water please call your Dr. ASAP. Especially if its been 24 hours. At 8 weeks I had to go to the ER after not being able to even hold down water for a day and a half.. They had to give me IV fluids and gave me Zofran. This happened to me twice because the DR. thought, well it will pass but then again at 10 weeks I was back at the ER!! Anyway I have really bad hypermesis Gravidum. I am 29 weeks and still take my zofran because unfortuantley my body is very sensitive to preganancy and still throw up. I hope your goes away and you feel better. Not everyone experiences what I do. If you can stay Hydrated more than likely everything will be fine.

I was not hospitalized but this is similar to what happaned to me. I was told even if I could get a few sips of ginger ale that was ok, but I was throwing up pretty much all day every day and could not keep anything down. Zofran worked wonders and I was also on it my entire pregnancy.
