Centerpieces with an active toddler

Do you have anything on the center of your kitchen/dining table if you have a little one who wants to get at everything? I've had a tall cylindrical vase filled with glass beads and branches, but lately she keeps trying to get at it and I know it is just a matter of time. I've been taking it off and leaving the table bare. I hate the look of the table with nothing on it, but don't know what else to do.

We had to resort to clearing off our tables. Oddly enought, it wasn't until about 17 months that DD really got hands on with everything. We did more babyproffing then than when she started crawling and walking. So yes, everything is bare, but it's for her safety and only temporary.

We have no centerpieces. I have nothing breakable below MY eye level. I learned the hard way. My youngest is a bull in a china shop. She has broken so much stuff, so everything is away until she is older.............

No way. I also put plastic on top of my tablecloth... And plastic over the rug where he sits.

My kid would either eat or throw the glass beads.

DS 1 never was into everything so I left it until I had DS 2. He's total opposite and into everything. No centerpieces and most breakables out of reach. We have a pretty big kitchen and dining room table though.
