They "usually" outgrow it by age 4, but not always. DD is 6.5 and still in that phase. DS outgrew his 3s phase around 6.5 as well.

Re: Terrifying 3's

DS was great at 2...but by 3 was a nightmare! He did get better by 3 1/2 though...he'll be 4 in February and seems back to "himself".

OMG yes...3 has been terrible compared to 2. My DS is so fresh, yelling, hitting and kicking me, being demanding...what happened to my sweet little boy Chat Icon

I can't believe my son isn't the only one that acts like this.... FRESH is an understatement!!! The throwing and hitting is out of control!!! And no sort of punishment works!!!

Re: Terrifying 3's

Its reassuring that he may grow out of it. I am doing a combo of 1-2-3 magic and a sticker behavior chart. Some stickers are easy to earn (i.e. cleaning up his toys), while others are more difficult (i.e. no hitting). He has been doing better with the stickers, but there are nights he loses stickers because he does the behavior after he earned it or just talks back or does not listen. I dont know if its the "right" thing to do, but he cares about the stickers, he usually stops if he sees he's losing them. Tonight was an example of a very good day gone bad thoughChat Icon . He earned them all, then got them all taken away. I wanted to cry. He's so proud of himself when he earns them. I dont take from a previous day's stickers. We had a little talk afterward. We both agreed we felt sad about it, I just dont know what else to do. Sometimes I feel like no matter how much I try, it's just not good enough or Im doing the wrong thing.Chat Icon

YES and no time out works..the only thing that works temporarily is if I take something away - you can't watch Toy Story, no more Batman doll, etc...Chat Icon
