Re: telling family..with creativeness?
i told my mom and dad after my first ob appt (which was at 7 weeks). i had them over for dinner and got them a "i love grandma/grandpa" bib nothing to unique - but easier then figuring out how to work it into a conversation or just blurting it out lol

telling family..with creativeness?
I had to call everyone with my first because I'm OOT and I remember telling my grandfather "you know how I'm always saying how great you are? how do you feel about being a 'great' grandfather?" -- I used the same line on my aunt. Took her a few seconds to get it but she was SUPER excited!!! My brother I asked how he feels about being an uncle. I told most of my close family after we went for the nt u/s which was around 11 1/2 weeks my first pregnancy. My dad and best friend I called right after a blood test confirmed I was pregnant. Not creative, but I still remember the call and it makes me happy.
With pregnancy #2 I called people and told them Megan was going to be a big sister. Only my mom was a b* and had something nasty to say about our timing. Everyone else was thrilled and super excited for us.

Re: telling family..with creativeness?
It was such a shocking miracle my sister and parents were called within 5 minutes of my BFP, my best friend was there when I took a test an hour later. DH's parents found out that night when we stopped by.
Either way.... we never planned to wait to tell people. We wanted to celebrate such excitement with all our close friends and family the full 9 months
work was a different story!

telling family..with creativeness?
I told some friends and my sister right away, but we waited to tell our parents bc our moms have THE HUGEST MOUTHS EVER. We got them together the Sunday before we were 12 weeks and showed them a slideshow of images we had taken at the park. The last 2 slides were of our dog next to a sign that said "I'm going to be a big brother" and then us holding a sign "We're not kidding, coming March 2013"

We told immediate family as soon as the pregnancy was confirmed by a blood test.
The only creative way we told anyone was for DH's grandmother's 90th birthday....we signed the card from us and Baby K. And that's how we told her she was going to be a great grandmother.

Re: telling family..with creativeness?
I told my family when we were away on vacation during a game of Charades. It was awesome!!! They all were so surprised. Everyone was yelling and screaming. The best part was my older brother was taping the whole thing!!!

We got our puppy a shirt that said "I'm going to be a big brother" and he wore that when our parents came over.

I told my parents and DH's parents pretty early. I put a shirt on my son that said big brother.
It was cute. I am not good at keeping stuff like this from them. I will prob tell the rest of my family very soon. Most likely after my first appointment.
Everyone else will find out at 12 weeks.

Re: telling family..with creativeness?
We told our parents right away and siblings not too long after. With DD we brought our parents picture frames that had quotes about being grandparents and made a little insert that said "Baby ____, EDD ____". They were all shocked and loved them (they thought we were giving them a picture from our wedding).
With this baby we got DD a big sister shirt and waited for people to notice. My mom was the only one who caught on without us pointing it out but they were all super excited.

Re: telling family..with creativeness?
We had just closed on our house and ILs hadn't seen it yet. So we had them come for the tour and we put sono pics on papers that said baby As crib and baby Bs crib and taped them to the nursery walls.
We though it was cute and obvious but mil thought the previous owners had just left them there?? And fil thought we were just being dumb and jumping ahead and planning ahead. Then I said "do you like the setup of where cribs will go?" and mil says "yeah but not yet". So wewere like um yeah duh october/November!! Then they finally got it ans were excite. So it was cute and creative (so we thought) but didn't go as planned. I really wish we had recorded it!!
