WWYD - Neighbor dog and MY lawn

Hi!

I take great pride in my lawn and mow incessantly, trim, water... i do it because i love the outcome and because, i own a home, and it's my responsibility.

That being said.. my neighbor, she doesn't have this mindset. She mows it just because she has to and doesn't do any weed maintenance or trimming. it looks terrible. it's brown and weedy.

when sitting outside for her daughters bus to drop her off from camp, she brings her dog outside, unleashed. her dog pees on my front lawn on the side by her property, not even at the curb!

ETA: I know this because i have brown round spots, and a neighbor saw it happen.

I really want to approach her about this, but don't have the appropriate words. i am afraid i will just get nasty, because she's an idiot anyway. Chat Icon

What would you say?

I would probably only say something if I saw it happen right then and there, otherwise it is too hard to prove.

I am sure it's her, but yeah, I think I would have to agree with PP.

Re: WWYD - Neighbor dog and MY lawn

I really doubt that approaching her is going to go very well unless you do it in the most non-confrontational manner possible. If you accuse or she perceives you being nasty or attacking in any way, you may wind up with a gallon of vinegar poured on your lawn. I've seen ugly retribution in neighbor disputes.

Do you have a good/friendly relationship with your neighbor? Do you like each other? Do you have casual, friendly conversations? If so, I'd have one of those friendly conversations about lawn maintenance and drop that the only problem is these brown spots that look like urine burn. Shrug and say "I guess it's from someone walking their dog. He must like to pee there! I know it's nature and there isn't much that can be done.. I just wish dogs didn't like my lawn so much!"

If she's nice, she'll get the heads up without you pointing your finger or acting like she is doing something wrong.

If you aren't friendly with her, maybe try to establish a good relationship and build up to the point that this kind of casual mention won't be construed as you pointing fingers.

Good Luck!

honestly at least in the warmer months I would set my IG sprinklers to go off right when the bus comes and goes LMBO. Good luck!

LOL!!
I wanted to hook up a motion detector to my IGS, so when it crosses the line, it would go off! haha.

I know, i know... I get a little edgy when i work so hard on it.

PS - we had a relationship (neighborly, our kids played together), then she called my kids a witch and a thief, that ended it.

I would avoid confronting her. I would put signs up and see if that works....but she clearly could not care less.

Love this!! I'd buy a sign that says curb your dog and stake it right at the spot where her dog pees!

I'd make sure my sprinklers were on at that time.

Yeah.. knowing that she's a troll totally changes thing. I mean.. it says she IS capable of property damage and would probably have her dog DELIBERATELY pee on your lawn if you approached her.. so I'd do what FDNYwife suggests and set the sprinklers!
