Another coxsackie question
If you have one kid with it and the other is fine how do you keep the healthy one from getting sick?
My 1 yr is sick and my 3 yr old is fine. It's day 3 of the dreaded virus. He doesn't have a fever anymore, but the sores are still bothering him. How long does it usually last? They play with all the same toys. I haven't had the baby play with much toys, but as he's feeling a drop better he wants to play. It was easier when he was napping a lot in his crib. Usually any other illnesses don't last as long and I just use the Lysol wipes. A day or do later the antibiotic works or the cold goes away and they're fine. This is the worst illness!

Re: Another coxsackie question
my 1 yr old got a very mild case (from his own bday party, no less). He had about 10 spots on his whole body and he was only sick for 2.5 days.
I think that by the time the symptoms come out, they've already been contagious for 2 days, so it's likely too late.
my 3 yr old had a fever and was mopey for 1 day, but luckily never developed the sores or the rash.
lots of handwashing, change all the sheets/pillowcases, don't let them share cups/food, etc.
fingers crossed for you!!!

Once they have the rash, they aren't contagious anymore. So there really isn't much you can do at that point.

Re: Another coxsackie question
I have twins...when they were 6 months one got it the other one didn't. I was vigilant about their toys...All plastics went in the dishwasher. I put some in the freezer and anything that could be washed was washed or put in the dryer to kill germs.
I also kept them separated as much as I could. The doctor assured me it was only a matter of time before my other daughter got it but she never did.
Also scrubbed any surface that the sick baby had played on. Lasted for about 4-5 days.
