Another question about Coxsackie

Can someone please tell me exactly what it is?
Bryan had a 103.3 fever last night. Went to ped. this AM and it was 101 in the office. Ped. said on the phone last night (we called the emergency line) that there is a virus going around where kids are just running a fever.
At the office today he said everything looks good (ears, throat was a bit red, but, culture came back negative).
He didn't mention coxsackie, but, of course it's in the back of my mind now.

What should I look for?

I was wondering this too. My nephews just came down with high fevers two nights ago but no blisters. Doc said just a virus but I wonder.Chat Icon

Re: Another question about Coxsackie

There are about 26 different variations of coxsackie . So each kid could show different signs.

My DS didn't have blisters on his feet or hands. He started out with a high fever and very miserable. Then by the end of the next day he was screaming and refusing bottles and food. Went back to the Ped and he had the blisters in the back of his mouth.

Blisters on the hands and feet are the classic symptoms though but some kids can just have flu like symptoms

This is all what I have read in searches on the net

Hopefully he doesn't have it!

Re: Another question about Coxsackie

Its possible he has that. I read online that some kids dont get symptoms, just the fevers.

If thats the case, then Bryan is almost done with it.Chat Icon

this is what DD had too - but she never got any blisters - she just had the 'virus' that they said at the doctors office - I don't think it was coxsackie.

Chat Icon TY ladies! I hope Im not jinxing it by saying that Bryan's temp dropped this AM to 99 (rectally). I think his fever broke. If I remember correctly, anything over 101 rectally is considered a fever.

TY for all the info. though. It's scary how many babies on the board are going through the same thing this week.

I was never so scared until Wed. night and the thermometer jumped up to over 103. I almost lost it.
My biggest fear ever is high fever and seizure.Chat Icon
