it's coxsackie...question about contageousness
yup my dr. confirmed it - it's coxsackie.
He told me as long as she doesn't have a fever she can go to school - it's not contageous.
But my friends Dr. told her that as long as there are still blisters it is...
So which have you heard?

Honestly, I don't remember. We did cancel Katherine's 1st b-day party last year a few days after she was diagnosed because we just didn't want to take the chance and infect the other children. I think I would probably trust your doctor's advice though.
for Talia--hope she feels better soon!!

We put Alex back at school once the fever was gone, per our doc's advice, but the school required a doctor's note.

My doctor said that as long as she had blisters she was contagious. It lasted about a week. It was horrible.

We were told to wait a day or two after the fever was gone before sending him to daycare -- no mention of the blisters.

in the daycare i use to work at, we didn't allow a child back with open blisters. especially an infant/toddler that is a drooler and mouther of toys.
i hope your daughter feels better soon!!

Re: it's coxsackie...question about contageousness
Sammy has it too but it is strange because he is not complaining of his throat hurting at all. His throat is read with red bumps. I always thought it was white blisters i the mouth . Our doc said Sammy has to be fever free for 24 hours. Today is is 99. 1. Is that fever?
