Re: WHat are the differences between Garden City, Garden City Park, & Gaerden City South?
I Dont live in that area but I know a little about it.
Garden City is obviously the nicest of all. SOme of those home (well most of them) are .
Is a beautiful beautiful area and the schools are Garden City and very good.
Garden City South- I believe (and someone can correct me) go to Franklin Square SD.
ITs a prettty little area that I borders FRanklin Square. Houses are not the same caliber as true Garden City, but its a cute town. We looked there briefly 5 yrs ago. fell in love with a house there but it was a little too small for us and we wound up not bidding on it.
Garden City Park I believe is Mineola SD. (I am not 100% sure though) but I dont know much about the area.

Yeah... of the 3 Garden City is the "nicest", most $$, and had the better of the 3 school districts.
This is what I think of when I hear those towns:
Garden City - Adelphi, Garden City Hotel, Franklin Ave and Stewart Ave.
Garden City Park - Jericho Turnpike, Pathmark that used to be there
Garden City South - Nassau Blvd right after Hempstead Typk, La Bottega
I think that some parts of Garden City South also go to NHP schools.

This is pretty much exactly what I think too. When looking for homes on Long Island School district is more of a factor then towns.

Re: WHat are the differences between Garden City, Garden City Park, & Gaerden City South?
Garden city - homes are typically they are the Garden City school district.
Garden city south - typically goes to Franklin Square elementary school district and H. Frank Carey high school which is part of the Sewanhaka high school district. I believe there is a section that goes to West Hempstead school district too.
Garden city park - typically goes to the garden city park / new Hyde park elementary school district and then goes to new Hyde park memorial high school which is part of the sewanhaka high school district. I think there is a small section that goes to mineola school district.
Schools are a personal preference really. If you go to greatschools.org you can look up test averages, demographic information and see if there are any reviews by parents. See if the districts have a website to look at. You can see what extra curricular activities they might offer.

Adelphi is really Garden City south and the homes around there are usually Franklin Square SD. I think this area used to go to West Hempstead schools, if I recall, but is now zoned for Franklin Square schools. Some of the homes in that area around Adelphi (off of Nassau Blvd, south of South Ave) are beautiful. That area is west of Garden City proper.
It's also worth noting that Garden City is an incorporated village with village taxes and restrictions that the other areas don't have. But I love Garden City - my husband grew up there and his family still lives there. Great area!

Not true... still Village of Garden City (Adelphi and the homes in the are you refer to off of Nassau Blvd/South Avenue).
