is anyone freezing meals for after delivery?

i'm wondering if i'm being too ambitious to try and make & freeze meals in advance for after delivery. at 38 wks am getting exhausted! have any of you ladies done this or thought about it?

I was just talking to Dh about this. I have to go to the store to get more freezer containers but I want at least 5 dinners I think in the freezer. My mom does not cook, DH may be able to do light stuff but I want to know I have it in the freezer,.

That is a GREAT idea! DH can cook sausage and peppers and eggs and thats about it!

I did this with my first DC. I had about a week's worth of meals in the freezer. I will definitely do it again.

i froze a few batches of meat sauce and 2 trays of baked ziti.

I'm thinking of assembling frozen crockpot bags so we can just throw it in and bam. After my first son, I did everything in the crockpot.

o good, i'm glad this isnt too crazy because i'm beginning to lose track of whats sane and not. lol just today someone told me to stop swimming or baby would become breech

Crashing... I did this and it kept us from starving to death the first few weeks. Freeze as much as you can!

I have done this for all three pregnancies, but with this particular pregnancy I prepared meals much earlier than the previous two. It's working out well, though, because our basement freezer was stocked with meals (ziti, lasagna, stuffed shells, quiches, baked chicken, shepherds pie, enchiladas, etc) by the time I was 36 weeks....and now that I'm 38wks and struggling with my asthma and chasing my boys I'm too exhausted to cook so we've already been breaking into the freezer stash.
It was a lifesaver before and it is now too!

I made a pot of sauce a nd froze it... thats how creative i got haha

I did this with my daughter and was so thankful! And, my SIL came to visit and cooked more for our freezer - best gift ever!!

I will definitely do it again this time. Most meals last 2-3 months in freezer, so I'll wait until I'm about 35/36 weeks to start making things. Some things that don't take up much space - turkey meatballs (I freeze them on a cookie sheet and once frozen, put them in a ziploc bag, you can pop out a few and then just make pasta), mini meatloaves (I have a pan that makes 4 mini loaves so you don't have to defrost too many at a time)... Then l'll do some larger items like lasagna, turkey chili and a basil chicken recipe I have.

I've been trying to build up a stash. I've done it the last few school years just bc by the time I get home from work I don't always have the time or energy to cook. I've been off my game this year because I was not interested in dealing with raw meat at the end of the summer! So, now I'm trying to get back on track before the baby comes or I lose all my energy.

I have a foodsaver so I can do things fairly well in advance. Right now I have meat sauce, chicken chili, meatloaf, mexican stuffed shells, and lasagna. I usually freeze things in 2 serving portions so that I can thaw them in the fridge overnight and just heat in the microwave.

I didn't and honestly didn't need too. It was just DH and I and we managed to still cook. The baby sleeps so much in the beginning that we had time

I would love to do this too. Actually I would love it even more if someone else did it for me . I have to come up with some ideas. Normally I'd definitely do sauce and meatballs but DD was so sensitive to tomato products when I bf her. I'll at least try and find some quicker healthier options at trader joes.

I didn't do this with DS was born but thinking of freezing some dinners when it gets closer to #2 arriving ~ I know it will save us from one less thing to think about, for a couple of nights at least.

When I was PG with my DD, I just hit up Trader Joe's and BJ's for frozen stuff (stuffed shells, ravioli, TJ's frozen stuff) to stock the freezer. Stuff that was easy to prepare in a pinch. I plan on doing the same thing this time as well!

I know my MIL will prob make us some stuff but since DH is a much better cook than me, I'm going to suggest "we" do this.

I might do somethings, but not a lot. I did this prior to having shoulder surgery and got sick of eating those foods.

I plan on doing this or else I know we will be eating cereal and sandwiches since DH can't cook for the life of him.

Some ideas are meat sauce, soups/stews, lasagna or baked ziti, meatballs or meatloaf.
