Am I doomed?
After being on BCP for 13 yrs, I went off in February. I am on my 4th cycle since then and they have been all over the place. 39, 33 and 52 days. I am waiting for AF to arrive for this cycle and am on day 49 :(
What's going on? Am I going to have difficulty getting pregnant because of this? Is there something I can do to help regulate the length of my cycles? I am starting to get really worried about my abilities to TTC. DH tells me to relax and not worry, but as we all know, that's impossible!
I have an appt with my current Dr. next month, but am going to see the new Dr. I want to switch to in February. I'm not sure if I should push for testing in Sept. or wait until Feb., what type of testing would I even as for?
Thanks!

Re: Am I doomed?
it can take a while for your body to regulate when coming off BCP. i know you were on it a while, but do you remember if your cycles were regular before you started the pill?
long cycles aren't always an indication that something is wrong. do you know if you are ovulating?
it couldn't hurt to ask your dr next month at the appointment and see that they say. why are you changing drs? you may not want to get invested too much in the old dr, depending on the reason you are changing. if your cycles are still irregular for another few months, you may want to consider making a sooner appointment with the new dr. they will probably test your hormone levels at various times during your cycle.

Re: Am I doomed?
I had been on BCP for 8 years and came off in February. I had only had 2 cycles by Mid June...my cycles were ALL over the place and really long. The last one was 98 days!! I went and saw my doctor because I KNEW something was wrong. She kind of blew me off because we had only been trying for 4 1/2 months at that point (even though I had only had 2 cycles). Talking to a bunch of the ladies on here made me realize that I NEEDED to be my own advocate. I KNEW something wasn't right and I pushed for blood tests and ultrasound and it turns out I have PCOS. Now I know why my cycles are long and I can take steps to mitigate. Not saying that you have PCOS just that is you feel like your doctor wont pay attention to you and your situation, get a new doctor or push harder for yourself
HTH!! Good luck!

Re: Am I doomed?
since coming off BCPs my cycles were crazy also. i dont think it always means something is wrong. i waited until my cycle had reached 63 days before going to my doc and turned out i AF 2 days later. He did some bloodwork and all my hormone levels came back normal so it wasnt anything wrong....
i think if you're concerned about it you should def get it checked out

Re: Am I doomed?
Thanks Ladies,
I am switching doctors because I have been really unhappy with mine for quite some time, but TTC has been the push I needed to find someone new. The new doctor's first appt for new patients (who aren't pregnant) wasn't until February, hence the wait.
I will speak to my current doctor next month and get the ball rolling. She did have some blood work done the last time my cycle was so long, and said everything was normal, whatever that means. I am going to have to write down all of my questions for my appt next month so I make sure not to forget anything.
Thanks again!

Re: Am I doomed?
I have been researching Vitex and may try it for a bit to see if it helps regulate my cycle. From what I have read, it can take at least 6 weeks to start to work, but I figure it can't hurt.
